3.9 v6 is idling at about 1000rpm when its at normal running temp

I changed throttle positioning sensor. im not sure it matters but the transmission lost its overdrive before i bought.

Any air leaking into the plentum chamber;eg, vacumn hose break ect

This should be set by the idle speed sensor but on some units there is an adjustment on the throttle cable stop. Have a mechanic do the job as if you upset the sensor settings too far the cpu will give you grief.. Normal idle will be about 900-1000rpm hot or about 1200 cold for a few minutes,

Car is hesitating during acceleration


Hi there i have a 2000 v6 camaro and i just rebulit the top end of the motor over the summer my car does this same exact thing ive diagnosed it as a tps but my throttle body is all one piece and i have fly by wire system so its about 500 to replace. when its really cold in the morning it doesnt like to idle smooth also because if my coolant temp. sensor. For you i would recommend doing a compression test on all of the cylinders, checking for spark, and also check and possibly replace tps( throttle position sensor)..

Where is the Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) Sensor located on a 1994 Olds Bravada. Recieve a Fault Code 23 (MAT low temp) and the engine does not want to idle?


As far as what you describe, I'd check and clean idle air system and possibly the throttle bore and throttle blade.
I looked at component locations for your vehicle, didn't see mat sensor? These databases are not always correct, but, it's all I have to go by.
I did see an intake air temp sensor. It's located in air duct going to throttle body.

I have an automatic, toyota 4runner. The RPMs are high when driving normal (like 4) going 80+ kph (im in japan, hence the kph). I know this isn't normal. Sometimes, it will "shift" gears and go...


The transmission depends on input from the vss, crank sensor, and tps for shift points. Assuming the speedometer is working, I recommend you run the test below on the tps. Also put the connector back on the tps and check the voltage on terminal VTA with the key on by probing the back of the connector. Open the throttle gradually and verify that the voltage increases linearly with throttle opening. If not, replace the tps.

Throttle Position Sensor OPERATION Throttle position sensors are usually mounted on the side of the throttle body. The sensor detects the throttle valve opening angle. The voltage of terminal VTA increases in proportion of the opening angle of the throttle valve. The ECM judges the driving conditions from the input signals of the terminals, and uses them as one of the conditions for deciding the air/fuel ratio correction, power increases and fuel cut-off control.

TESTING 3VZ-E and 1FZ-FE Engines
  1. Confirm that the throttle valve is fully closed.
  2. Connect an ohmmeter to terminals IDL and E2.
E2 is the bottom terminal, while terminal IDL is positioned directly above it.
3. Insert a 0.020 in. (0.50mm) thick feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and lever. Check for continuity between terminals IDL and E2 of the sensor. Continuity should be present.
4. Insert a 0.031 in. (0.80mm) thick feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and lever. Check for continuity between terminals IDL and E2 of the sensor. Continuity should not be present.

Timing at idle is more than 1000rpm


It appears the car may not be entering tuneup mode. warm up until temp is normal, idle stays below 1000 rpm
2000 rpm for 2 minutes
rev engine 2-3K three times
idle for one minute

turn off
disconnect tps
start
rev 2-3K three times
adjust timing
