SOURCE: engine wont crank

im looking at that circuit , on the start relay on your radiator support , red is always hot via fusible link , purple to solenoid as you say , orange/black wire should be hot in run or start mode , if it is not the fuse for that wire is PCM/ABS 10 amp located fuse block in driver door jam , it does go through the nuetral saftey switch , the yellow wire going to the PCM must ground that relay to activate start mode . last note there is a PCM/CRANK fuse in the driver door jam also , 10 amp , if all this is good i would like to hear more . 1 more note about the nuetral saftey switch is the pink wire going in and the orange/black wire coming out should have continuity in park and nuetral ....let us know thanks

Have you checked the security system ? Could be a bad chip in the key.
Or the neutral safety switch, or a bad connection between the key switch and the starter.

How do you replace an ignition switch on a 2002 chevy venture van? I have a 2002 chevy venture van and have had a problem with the starter staying engaged. I replaced the started and it fixed it...

So what it only does it in park or neutral ! The vehicle starting circuit is only suppose to let it start in park or neutal . Park neutral safety switch won't allow B+ voltage to S terminal on the starter solenoid unless the vehicle is in park or neutral . It's probably the starter relay contacts stuck closed . You really should learn how it works before guessing as to the problem . Plus learn automotive electrical testing ! The ignition switch when turned to the start position send's a voltage signal to the PCM - engine computer .The PCM will energize the starter relay to crank the engine . PCM / ABS 10amp fuse in the I/P fuse box supply's B+ voltage to the park / neutral safety switch . When in park or neutral the B+ voltage goes through the control side of the relay to the PCM which will supply a ground to energize the starter relay .

We changed the transmission in our 2003 Chevy Venture now it won't turn over or start. It ran fine before we changed the trans. What could be the problem?

may be related to the MLPS. Some call it the neutral safety switch. May be inside the trans or underneath the shift lever on the trans. make sure the harnesses are plugged in fully, and none of the prongs are bent over

My 2001 chevy venture won't start, battery, oil, coolant ok should i check the starter or fuses?

Turn on the headlites....when cranking do the lites dim or does anything happen to the lites??? Does the car make any noise when trying to start??? if not you may have a bad neutral safety switch try moving the shift lever up and own while holding the key to crank...if its a stick make sure the clutch pedal is fully depressed as they have a neutral start switch attached to the top of the clutch pedal likage arm above the clutch pedal assembly sort of under the dash....follow the clutch pedal arm upwards to see it...make sure it is working and/or plugged in.
If all checks ok check the leads to the starter/solenoid could be loose and or may be a bad solenoid....I recommend replacing the entire starter solenoid assembly if that is the case...why replace 1 part if the rest is equally as old?

Sounds like the neutral safety switch is faulty. Slamming the shifter into Park has temporarily solved the condition for some, but the switch may have to be replaced.
