Renault megane 2004 1.9dci aircon switch does not switch on

Aircon switch does not switch on so I cannot tell whether the compressor will kick in or not. Radio plays for +- 30 minutes, beeps, then switches off. cigarette lighter socket has no power. All worked well and switched off without warning.

I feel a real idiot. The owner's manual shows one AC fuse which I checked and it was OK. The radio was working so that fuse was OK. After consulting a workshop manual I found there was a combination radio/AC/controller fuse which was the problem. Replaced and all is OK. Thanks

I would have gauges hooked up and see if the system has a charge in it, low charge will keep the compressor from running because the system oil is circulated with the refrigerant. If it low you have a leak and that must be addressed before recharging.

SOURCE: engine idling varies depending on light or aircon is on/off

dude its normal for first start or cold start that the idle is ok but it must high than normal... its normal because the engine is warming up it self... when it gets warm, the idle speed will return normal idle... your engine is 1200cc, it has not much HP for a great load... and i know its a carburatored engine and its an old engine, your head lyt and a/c fan and aux fan and all the electrical system on your car, uses the HP of you engine and its a lot of load to the alternator driven by the engine to generate an electricity they need and thats why the engine rpm speed lowering down to dead and its shake. thats why when you use your lyts or all electrical, you engine is weakening... the best remede is adjusting you idle speed... its located behind the carburator.. its a small black knob.. just make a twist each eighter way and you'll find out if your idle rpm speed ts incresing or decresing.. just increase it and try opening your lyts and other electrical, if its still shaking then adjust it a little more

SOURCE: Jag X-Type 2.0 V6 Auto (2002). Amber engine icon

The Amber Engine Icon means the same as a Check Engine Light. Your car's ECM (Computer) has stored a Trouble Code, and you will need a OBD II Reader (On- Board Diagnostic) to get the code so you can diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle. You can go to any AutoZone and they can read the code for you at no charge. You will need to diagnose and fix the problem before the Check Engine Light will turn off.

What could be causing loud grinding noise when i switch on aircon? Aircon now not working but only makes loud sound.

Sounds like the bearing or part of the clutch in the A/C compressor has failed, or possibly component on a/c fouling on something due to recent repairs however would be unlikely and probably just a coincidence..

Check A/C compressor turns by hand, should be firm but not make any noises.

Check for fouling components related to a/c compressor clutch.

best talk to an a/con technican as there is a size/capacity requirement for compressors. While it may be feasable to fit another compressor it needs matching tx valve condensor and evaporator to work properly. He should be able to tell you if it will work or not

Have the aircon gas checked. If there is a leak in the system the pressure will be to low and the compressor won,t kick in. Re-gas aircon and check for leaks.

I would like to know where the aircon filters sit in the renault modus 1.4 expression. I would also lokie to know if anyone can help with a workshop manual for the renault mondus 1.4 expression.

Under the black plastic cover that hides half the engine department.
You need to remove some torx screws in order to get access underneath to the cabine or aircon filter.

Noise from A/C Compressor

Yes, look for an aircon technician that can swap a/c compressor clutch without removing the compressor from the bracket. if your lucky enough there are technicians who can do it without even leaking or discharging the gas from your aircon system
