SOURCE: bonnet won't open

Must be a seized mechanism, if it is the rear hinged type, you need to get behind the grille if you can and release the catch from underneath.

SOURCE: Bonnet cable snapped, need advice on how to open bonnet

If you can, get a hold of the cable somewhere with a pair of pliers and pull it. Did it snap right at the release handle or somewhere in the middle?

SOURCE: bonnet release cable has snapped how do i get into the engine bay to fit a new one?

it depends where the cable snapped. it it snapped near the opener just get a vice grip plier grip the cable and pull. the cable passes inside the left fender, just remove the fender liner and you can access it from there. if it snapped near the catch you need to remove the bumper and or grille

SOURCE: Bonnet release cable is broken - how do I open the

remove the o/s/f indicator this can be done by putting a thin screw driver between the bonnet and wing to push the indicator release tab down. once the indicator is out of the way you can see the bonnet catch behind the headlamp use a torch to locate where the cable should be and pull the latch towards you. it should take you about 10 mins to do this

How to open bonnet on Suzuki Wagon R (2004) - cable broken!

If the cable is broken at the release handle cut the outer cable sheath back and grip the inner cable with a pair of locking "Visegrip" pliers and pull. It often helps if someone pushes down on the hood over the latch location to release tension on the latch. If the cable is broken at the latch you will need a car lift to get at it to release it.

Can not open the bonnet. The release by the drivers right knee does not seem to work, I can pull it but the latch by the radiator/grill does not seem to function. I have sprayed some WD40 onto the parts...

In order to get the hood/bonnet to open, you will have to grasp the end of the cable with pliers or better yet, vice grips, and pull the cable. But, you still need to figure out what is causing the problem. Check to see if the cable is broken or has simply come undone at the latch. You can try to find the cable where it comes through the firewall and trace it to the hood latch, looking to see if any clamps have loosened up that would allow the cable to move and get too much slack in it. Sure hope this helped you and good luck.

Audi a4 bonnet release mechanism broken

This can be over come by getting a pair of vise grips and gripping the cable that is sticking out and pulling it out, once you have opened it Do not attempt to close the hood without replacing the cable. You have maybe only one chance at this so if you don't succeed you will make it harder for a mechanic to fix it. a new cable is not to difficult to replace, buy the cable and housing replace both.
