Ford ranger 2.3 dual coil firing order


the cylinder # 1 is at front exhaust side
firing order 1342 front coil to left side(intake)
rear coil to right side (exhaust) check the numbers at the coils.

Anyone have a wiring diagram or know how to hook this up ?


Black and red are pretty standard for negative & positive battery terminals.
There is likely a model number (pic isn't good enough to see the finer print) on the label but the larger numerals are probably serial numbers and without the model number, you may have a problem finding the exact installation info you want.

The link below has illustrations for a different model but manufacturers will generally stick with a wiring code to make installation and even production simpler:

How do I put in an ignition coil for plug number 1?


IF YOU HAVE THE 2.4L ENGINE.YOU HAVE TO REMOVE TOP IGNITION COIL COVER ON TOP OF THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD.YOU HAVE 4 SCREWS HOLDING THE TOP IGNITION COIL COVER ON.IF YOU HAVE THE 3.1L ENGINE YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE WHOLE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE ENGINE.BESURE TO NUMBER AND TAG ALL SPARK PLUG WIRES ON THE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY BEFORE REMOVING THE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY.

STANDING IN FRONT OF ENGINE FACING CRANKSHAFT.CYLINDERS ON LEFT SIDE ENGINE 1 3 5 AND CYLINDERS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE ON DRIVER SIDE IS 2 4 6 GET PIECE PAPER WRITE NUMBER 5 3 1 AND UNDER THAT NUMBER WRITE NUMBER 2 6 4 THATS COIL PLUGS WIRES LOCATION HOLDING THAT PIECE OF PAPER FACING FRONT OF ENGINE IS PLUG WIRES LOCATION ON IGNITION COILS TO ENGINE SPARK PLUGS. NUMBERS ON PAPER HAS TO LINE UP LIKE 5 OVER 2 AND 3 OVER 6 AND 1 OVER 4 NUMBERS I GIVE YOU WHEN YOU LINE THEM UP HOLD PAPER STANDING FRONT ENGINE.THAT IS CORRECT PLUG WIRES LOCATION ON SPARK PLUG COILS.

Ignition coil is overheating what is the cause of this?


Overheating ignition coils can be due to a number of causes. The symptoms are always the same though: poor or non-existent hot engine starting and rough running and misfiring whilst running.

The first is simply due to age: if it's traditional "wet" coil filled with transformer oil, then the oil can either leak out or simply break down with age. If so, the fix is simply to replace it and there are often modern compatible dry resin coils which do away with the oil filling completely. Dry resin coils can also fail with age or hard use, but it's far less common than with wet coils. A failing coil which usually works perfectly well be over-stressed if the vehicle is left idling for long periods on a hot day, such as during summer traffic jams. In such conditions, the coil will usually recover if the engine is turned off allowing the coil to cool down, but the damage caused by overheating is cumulative and the coil will become increasingly prone to overheating.

The second most common cause is a poorly tuned engine (if the vehicle is equipped with a distributor). If the ignition timing is incorrect or if the points gap has lessened due to wear then the coil can be energised for too long and will overheat. Note that the points gap and distributor timing are related: if the points are replaced or re-gapped, then the timing MUST be checked and reset both statically (engine not running, turned over by hand) and dynamically (engine running). Incorrect timing can also be down to a faulty or non-functional ignition advance and ****** mechanism. If you do not have ignition contact points, then there may be a fault with the electronic ignition module within the distributor.

If the vehicle has completely electronic ignition with no distributor then it's possible for faulty components to cause overheating coil. Most incorporate a variable dwell feature which prevents the coil from overheating when the engine is idling for extended periods. But I suspect this does not apply to your vehicle as you refer to a singular coil rather than the multiple (dry resin) coil packs mounted directly atop the spark plugs as per modern fully electronic ignitions. In any case, diagnosis of a fault with this set up requires electronic diagnostic tools.

I need to remove my number 6 ignition coil but


Hello. Here is the order of things for your truck. The engine firing order for either 4.6L or 5.4L V8 is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Cylinders are numbered, 1-2-3-4 on the passenger side bank of cylinders beginning at the front of the engine. Cylinders are numbered, 5-6-7-8 on the driver side bank again, beginning from the front of the engine to the back.
Soooooooo the number 6 is the second one from the front of the engine on the drivers side.

Sitting in the drivers seat, drivers side is the Left side, passenger side is the Right side.

From the Front of the engine going towards the rear,

Right side: 1, 2, 3, and 4

Left side: 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Left side is Number 5. Right side is Number 1

Front of the engine, RIGHT side coil pack. Two spark plug towers in Rear.

ok, try to put all accesories from your old engine to used engine, toyota dont make conversion kit, and the distribuitor is not compatible with your wires
