May have a short somewhere but check the ground cable/ connections first, there will also be a ground from the engine block to the firewall if you cant find it attach a new one (don't use thin wire or it can melt) dosen't matter where you put it just as long as it gets a good connection at the block and firewall(no painted surfaces/use sandpaper)

Hi Everyone I Drive A 2000 Reg 6n2 1.4 8V Polo and my battery isnt charging while i drive ive check the alternator and its got power to that, ive checked the 110Amp fuses ontop on the battery and there...

Check voltage running. A charging voltage should be closer to 14 than 12 volts. If it appears to be at a charging voltage while running your starter might be suspect. Power to the alternator does not equate with charging. It needs to get to the battery, and it needs to be producing higher voltage at the large terminal of the alternator.

New baterry and alternator it crunk but wont start what is the problem

If battery and alternator are good is starter solenoid pulling in? it may be that whilst you have a new battery it may require charging new doesn't mean fully charged, batt may have been on shelf for awhile

1988 Chev half ton kills battery. Put in new battery and starts right away. Ran it for about 20min then shut it off. Tried to restart and battery is completely dead. Needs boost to restart.

Have your starting system checked for starter draw.If the starter is drawing to many amps it will draw the battery down very quickly. Also have your charging system load tested to make sure the alternator is charging properly.Hope this helps.Good luck.

I just bought a 1986 chevy 1/2 ton with a fisher plow. I hooked up the plow and it won't go up or down, or left or right. The controls work, if I move the pistons on the valve body it still does'nt work....

un bolt the motor from the base, the pickup is just tin, they rot off and fall into the base. you may have valves stuck too, but if nothings moving and pumps running, it should labor BADLY

Battery Not charging

I believe I can help you. There are a few things to check.

First, are you running the plow a lot when you're having these problems? If so, you MAY need to install a second battery designated for just using the plow with it's own alternator. Hydraulic pumps use a lot of electricity to run.

Second, there may be a short in your electrical system, try installing a battery disconnect and disconnect the battery every time you shut the truck off for extended periods of time (more than a day).

Finally, check the voltage regulator (or have a shop look at it). If it is not working properly, the batteries may not re-charge correctly. The cheapest way to solve the problem is with a battery disconnect, but it may get annoying after a while, especially if you forget to disconnect it and your battery goes dead. Finding a short in an electrical system is a long and tedious process that may not always solve the problem. And installing a second battery and alternator for the plow can get expensive.

I hope I could help you with your problem and good luck.
