Question about Cars & Trucks
I purchased a 2005 Homesteader Hercules cargo trailer and need to take it to DMV for inspection so I can get plates, but I cannot locate the vin #
We have no info on the location of VIN numbers on aftermarket chassis conversions. The tag should be under the windshield or on the door opening of the drivers side. Call the manufacturer or look on the registration which contains the VIN.

You need lots of resolve:
You need to REMOVE the side panel of the cargo area. Remove the lip of the cargo area that sits under the door. Then, unscrew the grommet nut as this will catch on the side panel. Pry the lighter socket out and seperate the connection. Then, gently start pulling the side panel free (left side) from floor to window to back door.
This will expose the whole left side of the cargo are (about 6 square feet in total). Voila. Closest to the cargo door, down low, taped to the existing wiring is the plug connector for the trailer. down on the floor is a plug for the hole that you need to pull out. When you put your wiring through, connect the connector and replace all parts. As you go through the process pay special attention to the parts, there are a few places you need to remove clips that hold parts of the panel in place. Patience is key.
I'm pretty sure Honda wouldn't be happy about owners doing this under warranty...took us 1/2 hour but we are pretty handy and not afraid of the warranty...if I had to do work like this by paying somebody just to maintain the warranty, I'd be broke by now...
I'm wondering if you figured this out yet, given that your post was some time ago??

SOURCE: rear suspension
Your problem is that you need to trade off the freestar and get yourself a cargo van. The Freestars use struts for their smoother ride (so Ford claims). Basically the Freestar suspention is the same as is used on small cars. It will never be able to carry the load your talking about.

Most likely the brake pads are bad and the drums need to be turned the magnets are not able to lock the shoes in place. You may want to adjust the brake shoes firs, if the shoes have worn down then it will not brake without an adjustment. Jack up one side at a time and turn the Star up in the slot on the back of the brake plate adjust till you feel the wheel start slightly grabbing back off one click then do other side, see if they work by pulling the trailer and using the electric brake only see if it slows down your truck when you apply the manual brake bar on front of the electric brake. Does it slow you down? Yes? then you got it fixed if no then you will have to remove the drums and see if the surface is uneven where the magnets go. hope this helps let me know if you need more information.

EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) is mounted to the BPMV (Brake
Pressure Modulator Valve) located at the left front (lower) engine
EBCM Removal & Installation Procedure
Fig. Bolts (1), EBCM (2), bracket (3), bolts (4) and BPMV (5) (click image for zoom)
WARNING Do not use a tool to pry the EBCM or the BPMV. Excessive force will damage the EBCM.

Hope this helps.
