I replaced the thermostat. I get zero warm air and yet the engine over heats in under 20 minutes of driving. I am also leaking coolant.

Repair coolant leak.
If you cannot locate the leak, run a pressure tester and try to locate the leak.

After replacing the thermostat, you must bleed the air from the cooling system.

To bleed air from the 2.2L and 2.5L engines, remove the plug or sensor on the top of the thermostat housing. Fill the radiator with coolant until the coolant comes out the hole. Since the plug is made out of steel and the thermostat housing is aluminum, it is a good idea to apply an anti-seizing compound or Teflon® tape on the plug threads prior to installation. Install the plug and continue to fill the radiator. This will vent all trapped air from the engine.

Any trapped air in the heating system will have to be displaced by coolant. Once the cooling system is filled, with the radiator cap off, turn of the heater at it's highest setting. Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temp. You should see a drop in the coolant level as the air in the heating system is displaced by coolant. Add coolant to the proper level and replace the radiator cap.

Keep a close eye on the coolant level for at least the next couple of weeks. The cooling system is a "closed" system. Any significant decrease in coolant level indicates a problem.

I do not know the history of your 94 civic as far as mileage, how well the car has been maintained or not maintained. Could be a block within one of your heater hoses, the valve that open and closes to allow the radiator fluid through your heater core to recirculate the water, or a block within your heater core from rust deposits and or lack of servicing your radiator fluid could cause a build-up of deposits. You might have an air lock within your cooling system" air pockets". Perhaps you can purge your coolant system to allow any air bubbles or pockets that may have entered the cooling system when adding coolant, replacing a radiator, or simply servicing the coolant system. Make sure you have the proper radiator cap to produce the proper amount of pressure with your cooling system. Check for any fluid leaks in your cooling system as well. This may allow air into your cooling sytem.

If you have a knock or clicking noise behind the radio, it is the blend motor. The blend door is spring loaded and the gears in the blend motor are "stripped". The door is spring loaded so that the door is closed to the heater core. About 2 hours to replace and a lot of bending and stretching. You don't have to remove the dash, but all of the trim, radio, and controls will need to come out.

No heat bulging rad. hose


Hose is bad and probably leaked some fluid while driving. Low fluid level will explain loss of heat. Hose has fiber reinforcement, if bulging it is bad. Look close you will find a hole, maybe pin sized. Replace hose, refill system, bleed out air by ... run engine till warm with rad cap off, turn heat on high & gently to med rev engine while topping off fluid.

When cold weather warming up car takes a long time to heat up blows out cold air then after you drive for a while it warms up


sounds like the thermostat might be stuck open. the engine uses hot antifreeze to heat up the inside of the car if the thermostat is stuck open all of the antifreeze will be circulating all the time and it will take a long time to heat up. I would try to replace the thermostat

How do you change a thermostat in 1998 blazer


The thermostat is under the fitting with the upper radiator hose on. Remove the 2 bolts replace the thermostat, add coolant. Allow the engine to heat up with the radiator cap installed on the lock position not fully tightened. The air in the system will purge out into the reservoir. Fill the reservoir to the hot line when fully heated and no air is coming out anymore.

My 1999 chevy blazer will not blow heat


ther are two small tubes that open and close the valve to let in the hot air' one is from right under the carb intake and goes to the right (looking at the engine) right behind the fuse box. if there's o hole in that tube the heat will not work. just change mine becase the tube dry-rotted

Heat in '97 blazer working only when accelerating


One other thing to look at is the vaccum actuator on the heater box, under the dash on pass. side, verify its not leaking vaccum and holding the internal door open for heat. You can normally grab the actuator shaft and operate it by hand to see if this gives you heat... also verify that both hoses to the heater core are hot. hope this helps.

Yes, It's under the intake manifold. The manifold would need to be removed Lower hose from radiator is attached to steel pipe leading to it. It will not be an easy mission,and the new thermostat is rated for I believe 170 degrees. That's not much help to keep the interior warm with a rag top when it's 20 below zero.

You can boost the heating level by adding vinyl cover over the front portion of grill. Any boat interior shop has the material. Modify any large air leaks. Use the fan to keep fresh air filling vehicle, not recirculate.
