SOURCE: Replacing window regulator

You can buy the plastic clips from the dealer, break the old ones, there is no tool that I remember using, in fact I don't remember having any problem, are you sure the regulator is at fault? why not just replace the motor?

SOURCE: FRONT LEFT WINDOW DOES NOT OPERATE

My window was experiencing the same problem, although it never worked poorly, it only quit working downwards, but went up fine. The trouble was in the switch. Disassembled the switch, re-set the pegs and springs, re-assembled and now everything works fine. I assume one of the pegs simply sprung loose, and would contact the plate when "up"position, but was too far out of reach to contact for "down". If the regulator wasn't the problem, this is much easier to check. Make sure if you do disassemble the switch to keep it upside down when you do it, so as not to loose the pegs and springs within. Hope you found a solution.

1999 left door glass off track....how to repair

In most cases, you will be disassembling the inner door panel and window and replacing the window regulator.
Because they use as much plastic as possible, you should have a broken plastic piece in the assembly.
Remember, when you remove the door panel, you will likely break several of the plastic clips that hold it on, and you will want to buy some new ones to replace those.
God bless your efforts.

1998 ford explorer rear window removal

Hi there:

  1. Remove the door trim panel and speaker if applicable.
  2. Remove the screw from the division bar. Remove the inside belt weatherstrip(s) if equipped.
  3. Remove the 2 vent window attaching screws from the front edge of the door.
  4. Lower the glass and pull the glass out of the run retainer near the vent window division bar, just enough to allow the removal of the vent window, if equipped.
  5. Push the front edge of the glass downward and remove the rear glass run retainer from the door.
  6. If equipped with retaining rivets, remove them carefully. Otherwise, remove the glass from the channel using Glass and Channel Removal Tool 2900. Remove the glass through the belt opening if possible.

To install:
  1. Install the glass spacer and retainer into the retention holes.
  2. Install the glass into the door, position on the bracket and align the retaining holes.
  3. Carefully install the retaining rivets or equivalent.
  4. Raise the glass to the full closed position.
  5. Install the rear glass run retainer and glass run. Install the inside belt weatherstrip(s).
  6. Check for smooth operation before installing the trim panel.

Hope this helps.

Where is the fuse box located on 1985 ford ranger ?

I hope this will help you? Usually on the left side of the passenger compartmen, under the dash, or could be on the firewall to the left of the steering column. Sometimes the panels are exposed and sometimes they are covered.

Power window motor replacement, left front

First off check on e-bay for a replacement, then take door panel off, remove plastic from door sometimes I use a hot air gun or blow dryer to heat the tar so plastic won't rip,but if it does use duct tape to repair, then you have to remove the bolts holding the window regulator to door, remove glass from regulator some have metal clips and some you have to turn at an angle to slide the glass off,the whole window regulator assembly will with some trial and error and turning will come out the big hole in the door, also if you have power windows or mirrors be sure to unhook them before pulling door panel out to far.

Cannot remove outside door handle

If you look under the handle you will see two round flat rivet heads. You will need to remove the door skin. Roll the window all the way down. Pull the plastic trim up off the window regulator arm/handle and unscrew it, there is a screw inside the arm rest in the place where your fingers go, and another screw behind the inside door handle that holds the plastic molding in place. After those are unscrewed it is just a matter of popping off the skin with a suitable pry bar or trim plug pry bar tool (the door skin is attached by plastic barbed plugs that go around the outside of the door) Pry from the bottom 1st, then the sides. Lift skin away from door from bottom and then pull up to remove skin from door...this will release it from the top where the skin attaches inside the door next to the glass.
Temporarily attach the window handle and roll up the window. Cut the doors inside plastic liner to gain access to the inside (Duct Tape this all back up air tight when re-assembly). Keep that window handle close...you may have to adjust the window height to move the glass/arm out of your way.
Once the outside handle is drilled out (use a big drill bit and go just deep enough to break the head off then use a punch to drive out the rivet) you just have to unhook the metal arm that goes to the latch. Bolt on a new handle and re-assembly is reverse of disassembly. Take advantage of having the inside of the door open to lube up the window regulator or even spray a good dose of Rust Check etc inside to protect it from rust. Rangers are pretty bad for having the bottoms of the doors rust out.

04 Ford ranger door glass replacement diagram anyone have one?

Go to the public library or buy a service manual at the auto parts store for your truck. You should buy one if you plan to keep the truck a long time. If no manual can be found. You have to roll the window all the way down and remove the window crank and the door handle so the door panel can be removed. then remove the window mechanism from the door. Then install the new glass into the frame and tighten the screws (not too tight) the glass will brake. Tape and paper the new glass for protection and then re-install the same way it came out. Put the rest of the parts back together.
