1986 Ford Bronco II won't stay running....can anyone help?

2.9v6 it will run while holding the key on and at the same time spraying ether in the throttle body. Let off the key and it will die. Even while I continue to spray the ether. Does anyone know what my problem might be.

I checked all the fuses, changed the igniton, checked the igniton module and it was fine. It still won't turn over.

Any ideas how to check for fuel pressure or if the fuel pump is working?

hey man it could be a faulty brain.also faulty starter silinoid may be an option the main power wire runs off one side of the silinoid and the brain feed runs other side so when you turn it over it makes contact

We can get the 86 bronco II to start and run but will not go when put into drive or reverse?

Check your Transmission Fluid. If it is low fill to the recommended level. If it smells burnt it is time for a Rebuild.

Bronco 2 won't keep running unless you hold the key

Very possible.
You could disconnect the rod between the lock cylinder and the switch to see if the lock is the problem. The switch is on the bottom of the steering column.

How to add fluid

It goes in through the dipstick. Just use a small throat funnel, but take your time and keep checking the level. You don't want to over fill it. Check the fluid level while the engine is running, not off/cold.

89 bronco II stars then dies

if the fuel pump cutoff was tripped it would not start at all, I know this for sure, I am a Ford dealer tech and I specialize in no starts and check eng lights. If the ignition switch is bad the 2 halves of the switch will be starting to come apart, it is very common, u should be able to either see it or feel it with your hand.
