Question about 1993 Chevrolet K1500

1 Answer

Heavy Smoke Thanks for your help. There is some oil, I originally thought was a valve cover gasket leaking. Now I see smoke coming from air cleaner. Is the "vent tube" the piece that runs from the exhaust to the air cleaner? If so, I'm thinking that's where it's coming from. Someone else said try changing the PCV. Air filter showed some oil. I don't think It's an oil leak, but oil burning and then the smoke coming back out the air filter housing. It does burn oil when accelerating from a long stop. If you want you can contact me at sexymexyx1@netzero.com Thanks again!

Yeah,,your engine is showing signs of wear, if it blows a lot of oil out the back end after sitting at a light or stop sign,,then that is a sure indicator of Valve seals needing replacement,,,but it also sounds like your engine is worn out Piston Rings and all.
You could try a product which is used on just about every drag racing strip,,it's called Lucas Oil treatment,,,i don't promise that it will solve all your problems,,,but if it don't help,,it sure wont hurt.

Best of luck to ya.

1996 Saturn sl2 smoke problem not head gasket no antifreeze seeping in valve cover gasket leaks and losing about a quart and a half of oil no blue smoke kinda white but heavy a little stops driving

White coming out the tail pipes is coolant/water. Doesn't mean the head gasket is blown, but you'll wish it was. Could be a cracked head. They can crack inside the intake or exhaust port. This would still give you a good compression reading. If in the intake, you would have a misfire. Exhaust you wouldn't. As far as the blue goes. It is mostly white in color, with a hint of blue color. Loosing that much oil would be a major leak or the rings are shot. Rings being shot, you would see that blueish tint in the smoke.

White smoke out of exhaust

Regarding 2001 audi a6 quattro 2.7t....i was driving to work the car was fine then white smoke starting coming from under the hood and tail pipe. i stopped veilce and alot of oil was dripping from front of car. I towed it home and i looked under the hood and there was oil from valve cover gasket. i let the car sit for a few days, had it running again for a good hour and no white smoke was coming out. I removed the valve cover and gaskets are all bad. i want to know can the valve cover gasket leak cause the white smoke to come from exhaust pipe?

Smoke comin from top rocker cover smell like burnin oil

Could the smoke be coming from the exhaust manifold on the passenger side of the engine? When the valve cover starts to leak, it is common for the oil to leak down and burn on the outside of the exhaust manifold.
Replacing a valve cover gasket is not difficult or expensive, and it is common for BMW valve cover gaskets to get brittle and shrink and start leaking every 10 years or so. My wife's 330 needed a new valve cover gasket at 6 years.

1999 saturn sw has blue smoke coming from tailpipe. I would like to know if it has anything to do with head gasket

blue smoke is usually oil burning- is it light or heavy- if light- change oil and go up one grade- rings are worn- if heavy- time for a rebuild- rings need to be replaced. but for the money on rebuild- could find car newer and lower milage

I havea daewoo nubira and we replaced the valve cover gasket yesterday , did an oik change and now the engine is smoking white smoke. Try to check to hoses, could not see a leak. Where is the cylinder...

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

The cylinder head is located on the center of the engine. Yes it can be a worn out head gasket or piston rings. If the piston rings are worn out the oil is burnt that's why it emits white smoke. You will need to replace the head gasket and piston rings.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Oil leaking on engine smoke coming into car.

Check that the valve cover gaskets are leaking. If they are, then replace them.
Also, check where the oil is coming from and replace any seals or gaskets that are
causing smoke to come into the car.

Smoke comes from around engine

Probably a vavle cover gasket leak, small but enought to produce oil, in or on the surface of the motor doesnt take much to a lil smoke from aa hot engine...it could be collectiing in the canals ontop of the motor where the vlave covers sit on the head? or a head gasket problem....inspect it well after you run the car for a lil while, b4 it starts to smoke
