Question about 2004 Dodge Stratus

2004 Dodge Stratus 2.4L Overheating

Engine is overheating, water seems to be flowing but unsure. Can take radiator cap off and see bubbles when engine is running. What is my problem? Thermostat? Water pump? ???

The thermostat may be blocked open; that could be a reason for the gauge position.

My 2005 Dodge Durango is overheating


if lower hose is cold and upper is hot there is no circulation several things bad water pump or slipping belt, plugged radiator. air flow going around radiator make sure the side air dam deflectors are there

1988 b2200 is overheating--we've changed out the lower radiator hose, thermostat, and the upper hose is fine. Why is it overheating? Radiator, heat pump, or water pump?


!st check and make sure the water is flowing in the radiator, then check
the timeing, Mazda will run hot if the timeing is rong.

Changed bad water pump and timing but car is still overheating causes


Overheating is not always caused by a bad water pump or bad engine firing timing.

The most common causes are:
  • faulty radiator cap: steam/water will be escaping from the caps when engine is hot or oveflow tank overflows or empty!
  • crack cylinder head gasket: check when engine is cold thru radiator cap hole for milky oil in water radiator or large bubbles in radiator water after starting engine. Also check if water steam comes out of exhaust.
  • cylinder head itself: same symtoms as for gasket above.

Hi my problem in my envoy 2004 is that I'm changed the water pump, fan clutch, radiator, thermostat and it's still overheating and evaporated the coolant on a 80 miles drive. My techs check and says that...


remove radiator cap, run engine, and look for bubbles coming up. Bubbles indicate blown head gasket. Also check exhaust for excess moistness/steam.

I would recommend that you bleed all air out of the cooling system. The bleeder valve is located on top of the engine. Once engine starts to overheat or when you can hear bubbling back into the overflow bottle, turn car off and open bleeder valve. If you see bubbling you have air in your system. Bleed the system a couple of times and see if this helps.A heat sensor sending unit which controls activation of the electric fan could also have failed.But is the heat sensor is properly working then check the radiator cap is it properly fitted or got loose.If its loose it will release the pressure and car will overheat.But if the radiator cap is properly closed.Then its time to check the HEAD GASKET.As you have mostly replaced all the possible faults for overheating and if other mentioned possibilities are checked OK.Then its time to check and replace head gasket. My car jerks before it cuts off because it keeps overheating. Already changed the thermostat and checked the radiator cap.


with the engine cold,remove radiator cap.fill w/antifreeze so you can see it.start engine.as engine warm up look for movement or flow of coolant.at normal temp,no flow--water pump bad. if you see bubbles it's a head gasket,quite likely if it was driven while overheated.

2001 Dodge Intrepid ES 2.7L Overheating


That is a bleeder, but if you can't get it loose, just start engine with cap off & watch flow, and let air bleed out through top. I usually let coolant circulate through 2 or 3 cycles before I put cap back on. By cycles I mean, when cold, remove cap,start car, TURN HEATER ON, and let it run until it's up to running temperature, then pay attention to temperature gauge, and flow in radiator. When at normal running temperature, you'll eventually see the flow increase in your rad when thermostat opens, and shortly therafter your rad fan will probably start to cool the incoming coolant. Watch for bubbles when flow increases, which is the air bleeding out of the system. Let it do that about 3 times before you put cap on, then take it for a short drive, come back, shut it off and let it sit & cool down again. You may get coolant returning to bottle but that's normal. If your getting excessive or continuous bubbling from rad, it may be indicating a bad head gasket or head, but lets not go there yet.One other thing to try, is if you go for a drive and it starts to heat up, turn your heater on high heat & high fan setting, and see if gauge goes down. If that makes it run cooler, your probaly looking at a new rad.

Overheating fiat seicento


I hope you have managed to solve the radiator problem by now. Seicento seem to suffer from water flow blockage in the heater blower area. I recommend you check the piper behind the carburator and make sure water is flowing. Normally when these pipes are blocked, water will flow back to the expansion tank and start leaking through its cap. You can also open the small screw on the small pipe coming out from the back panel behind the carburator and see whetehr water flows. Also, if the water is heard grumbling when engine is switched off, it is highly likely that the water is not flowing through the heater unit. Hope this helps.
