Replace subwoofer 2001 chevrolet suburban

Should be a standard 8" sub, located in the passenger rear side. Remove the plastic interior body panel, the sub will be located behind. Remove the 6-or-so screws holding it in, disconnect the wires, making note of which wire connected to which terminal. Connect the wires to the new subwoofer, replace screws in new sub. Test the audio system to make sure everything is working properly, and re-install the plastic interior cover panel.

I have a 2001 tahoe and im trying to replace the factory sub, but i cant get the cargo strap knob off so that im able to pull off the back panel.

These are a big pain in the rump, you can get them off with channel locks and some umph, they loosten just like a regular bolt left to loosen and right to tighten

I want to disconnect the factory sub-woofer from the factory radio.

generally the speaker cover panel will 'pop' off with a little gentle prying, giving access to the speaker itself which will allow you to simple pull the wire leads. I would suggest taping them so they don't cross and cause hiss in your system or rattle inside the speaker containment area.
