You might check the connection at the linkage on the transmission, and see if you have a loose connection. It sounds like that is your issue. You might have a cable stretch issue (rare), or a shifter lever pivot pin issue. My first guess though would be to check the linkage at the transmission.

1992 Dodge Stealth SOHC - no problems, running great, then I replaced the distributor (forgot to mark it) & now the car won't start up. It'll turn over, even got it to start once but won't...

put number 1 cylinder at top dead center and drop in distributor so the rotor points to number 1 on cap. may have to try several times as gear moves when lowering dist.

Check engine light on & won't shift out of 2nd gear

Have the cat checked to see if the insides have come apart. A restricted cat will cause no power (ie will not accelerate)

My car will not go into gear unless its started and already in gear. Ill pull it outta gear and won't go back in while running.

Your transaxle will have to come out & new parts installed,
like synchro rings

You should be able to push in the clutch & shift thru all
gears nice & smooth, with no engine running.

That said I wouldn't rule out clutch issues also, but not
for the shifting issues.

2008 Nissan Altima won't shift gears while driving

If the RPM's Flare, youv'e gone too long without
recognizing a trans that slips

It will have to come out & be rebuilt, most likely.

My chevy monte carlo 2000 3.4 won't start it makes a sound similar to a drill ... I took out the starter and tested it and it passed but it definitaley sounds like the starter I don't know what it...

With the starter removed, have someone slowly turn the engine with a wrench (you may need to remove sparkplugs) while you check the condition of the ring gear around the flywheel. You may have teeth missing from it which would just let the starter free-wheel. Also check the starter's gear if you didn't do it before.
If those both check out OK, you may just have a corroded cable or clamp in the path to the starter. It draws 100-150 amps when loaded with the engine and any tiny bit of resistance will drop so much voltage that the starter won't fully engage.
