Question about 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Will it work from the drivers side switch? If not it more likely your motor is fried. This is extremely common in that model jeep and takes basic mechanical knowledge to replace.
1. remove door panel. be careful to unhook and unplug everything attached to panel.
2. tape window in the up position and remove the clips holding the glass to the regulator
3. remove the four10mm bolts holding regulator to door and three 8mm bolts holding motor to the door
4. remove speaker and guide regulator ouot the big hole in the door near the bottom
i have replaced both sides on that model in under 30 mins.heres a link http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/how-to-replace-grand-cherokee-window-regulator.htm

If its electric a fuse could be bad or a shortage in the wiring

It has to be a broken wire! Initially, I lost the door locks & power to the windows ONLY when the drivers door was open. When I closed the door, the problem went away. Finally, I had the problem all the time. I checked for 12 vdc at the switch in the drivers door and there was NO POWER. In the rubber boot (between the car & door) I found the grey wire (with a pink stripe) was broken internally but the INSULATION WAS NOT!!!

Replace the fan relay switch. The dealer will charge you 400 to pull the bumper off, or you can buy the part for 45 and cut the hole in the plastic near the passenger headlight assembly and replace it yourself. There are instructions for this procedure on the web somewhere. I have had this problem more than once with my 02 GC V6.

I have the same problem. Do not know cause but I remove large red 50 fuse in engine compartment fuse box, wait 15 sec and replace. Lock car and unlock. This seams to reset something and car is fine. This problems seams to appear when my battery is low.(?)
