Question about Volkswagen Jetta
Used to play burnt and regular CDs. Now it plays nothing but radio.
Oh dear. It sounds like the stereo CD reader may have had its day I'm afraid. Time for a new unit.

It could be that there simply is dust on the laser LED. Then you will only get static. You need to see the laser and clean it with a can of dust blower like "Dust Off".

Try the following steps to remove the stuck CD..If your not sure about wat to do then take it any Mechanic..
Removing the faceplate is easy if you have the right tools. Make sure you use the flattest flathead available. Something that can slip through inbetween the pieces of the faceplate and the surrounding trim.
After, you will just gently pull and keep on prying around the whole faceplate. The clips are on the very top and 2 on both sides left and right. Its easy after you have a finger underneath the faceplate starting from the drivers side top cornor and working yourself around.
All the controls and sensors and lights will be attached by clips and locks with wires running from the headunit and power supply. Don't disconnect btw (esp the airbag or the sensor will trip)
Next, you will notice the controls and the wires still connected to the faceplate so don't disconnect the airbag sensor, it will cause the light to come on and a factory tech to reset it. So you don't need to disconnect any of the wires.

there are only couple options. pull radio and send to shop for repair, purchase used radio from good junk yard. or call dealer and see if there is a warranty on it. even though its 6 yrs old they may help. what they do at the dealer is an exchange
