I pulled the heads now putting it together i cant remember where these brackets went they are on drivers side and involve the power steering pump

You're going to have to bleed the system alot on those trucks. Just remove the return line and have an assistant turn the steering wheel back and forth just enough to engage the pump and filling the resevour while doing this. Keep bleeding until you have a good flow of P/S fluid out with no air bubbles. This can take a while.

You need to replace the regulator. When cable comes off track it usually binds up in the motor. motor, and cable all come preassembled as one unit, known as the regulator.

you can either remove the steering pump to gain access,if there is no holes in PS pump pulley,you can rent a pulley puller....can be a ***** to get in and use them though....I will drill a hole in it for next time whenever I replace a pump on cars without ....

You might find one at a Junk Yard or be able to order it from the dealer, that is where I would look for it in that order. As far as how easy it is to replace that will depend on how everything is connected and if the job requires special tools.
