Question about 1992 Geo Storm

1 Answer

Leaking transmission I have just finished swapping out my engine in a 1992 Geo Storm. (1.6 Litre 4 cyl. SOHC) Everything bolted together just fine. While warming the engine up to prepare it for timing, I noticed a large amount of transmission fluid coming from under the shroud plate. Any idea of what I could have missed that would allow such a large leak?? I would really hate to have to pull the crazy thing again if I don't have to.

You very well could have Knocked the Seal around the Tranny Shaft loose During the Installation.

Install serpentine belt on 91 geo storm

I believe this is for 1.8L engine, serpentine belt. If you have a different belt for each component, that is a different issue? With multiple belts, the component usually has a pivot bolt, you loosen the bolt, then move the component to release or increase tension on the belt, then tighten the bolt.
With a serpentine belt, the tensioner does that for you.

Will a 1.6L engine out of a 1991 geo prizm fit into a 1993 geo storm?

you would have to have diagrams of each car.
is the motor mounts in the same location, is the the transmission bolt up in the same place, if it rear wheel drive is the drive line same distance, if it front drive car, will all the linkages connect, or in the right location, steering wheel layout the same, is the tires and wheels the same, are the same height off the ground, are both engine same demention, same whight, will the hood close right, the wiring will have to be done too., this list goes on.

1991 geo storm gsi,Was going down the road fine and all of a sudden It cut off and cannot restart it what could be the possible problem or cuses.

same answer for all cars made 1920 to now.
never restarted ,ever ? gee , a little hint...?
1: lost engine compression hot, (gee forgot to do the 60k serviice/)
2: lost spark , yes, check spark at all 4 cyl. if bad check coil spark.
3: lost fuel or too much fuel called flooding.

one removes a spark plug, it drips of fuel , say all 4.
flooding.
crank motor at WOT, wide open throttle to clear flooding.
if the spark is good and the spark tips are dry, then try test fuel
if car starts and dies. then you lost injection.

easy huh> with the above you know exactly why it fails.
compression bad
spark
fueling.

1991 i think is TBI single injection engine, i can look it up but
no i wont. we need to do the tests first to get there.

1993 Geo Storm |Transmission

There is no way they would leave you stuck with the engine!! However, the odds are that it should fit. First check the flywheel or flex plate. [Not sure if its a auto or manual.] If they bolt on, your are into installing the engine! Good Luck with it! Frankster016
