Question about 2006 Ford Fusion

1 Answer

My car revs high when started up.

The car revs up to the 2 when started and then begins to fall, but as it falls it will jolt back up a little. Also when driving the car, it shifts fine until it gets warm, then it will start shifting hard.

SOURCE: shift cable disconnected from transmission

Sounds like either a part is broken or something needed is missing. First you need to know what is supposed to be and then you can figure "what is or isn't".
If you don't know enough about it, I would suggest you find someone who is better qualified to help make a determination here.

Where to adjust Nissan sunny 130y carburetor idle speed n air fuel mixture

there will be screw with a spring under the head at the base of the carby
it is normally a small brass screw with a flat blade slot
turn it all the way in and then back it out around 2 turns
final tune is with the engine at operating temperature turn it in slowly until the rpms start to fall
slowly turn it back out until the rpms again start to fall
take notice of how many turns between in and out an final tune will be in 1/2 that number of turns
example
fully in then out 2 turns
turning it in and the rpms fall
turning it out and counting the number of turns gives you 1 1/2 turns till the rpms fall
turn it back in 3/4 turn

RPM revs high and changes while in neutral

Check the air intake sensors, called MAF or MASS air flow. They have temp and baro devices in them.

What are the signs when you need to replace a catalytic converter on a hyundai sonata 2001

When the engine runs out puff at high revs (blocked exhaust system)--- when the cat converter rattles when bumped Cracked and falling apart)-- when the fault codes refer to o2 sensor faulty ( too much back pressure). These are some indicators of a failed converter.

I was driving back on the expressway when the RPMS started to rev while in the gear. I was only going 55 - which is in 5th gear. it owuld rev then fall back between 2 &3 RPMS. When I was pulling...

Your clutch has failed. Big job...transmission needs to be removed. The over-reving you felt was the friction material on the clutch disc not gripping the flywheel.

Peugeot 306 d-turbo rev jumps accelerating

Hi

It could be a number of things, I would check the EGR valve first as that is quite common on the HDI EGR "exhaust gas recycler" reuses any unburnt fuel in the exahust gas and forces it through the engine to keep your emmissions down and improve economy. often these get mucky so you can remove them and spray them with carb cleaner! do not use anything else to clean them.

To check also any air pipes that have splits. tears, rips etc have a feel around the underside of each air pipe as again this can ause that fault.

Lastly check the air mass sensor going into the air box, I cannot reacll where it is on that model but they are very obvious once your looking at it. normally a wire going into the main air intake of the car, unplug or unscrew it and again clean with carb cleaner and refit.

try these before you pay anyone, lastly it could be an injector leak sucking in air, you can test this if you can get to the injectors, poor a little water around each one and see if they blow out any water or bubble up and **** the water in, this can be a cheap fix but the labour invloved may be expensiove, in all honesty buy a haynes book as its pretty simple just takes a while.

Hope this helps, if you are unsure what I mean then get back to me and I will explain.

Regards
Dan

Oil pressure fine when i start car. when you drive for a little the pressure will drop and rise any solutions.

Depending on the range of rise and fall, this is completely normal. Oil thins out as it gets hot so you will notice the pressure drop significantly at hot idle. A typical value would be 20psi, then as the engine revs up, the pump creates more pressure because it can now keep up with and exceed the leak-down or bleed-off from the bearings. The maximum pressure would be limited by the relief valve in the oil pump which could typically be as high as 60psi.

Rev counter falling below 1000rpm when warm, nearly stalling

If this is a 1.8 petrol model then the idling adjuster/throttle stop screw needs to be adjusted.Slight adjustment can be done without a diagnostic tool ,loosen the lock nut holding the throttle screw found near the throttle cable, adjust this in clockwise to increase revs.
