No there isn't a way to get at it other then removing the dash. As far as the cose it depends on the shop and its hourly labor rate. The part should cost at the most $100 and if you have the automatic temp control system it list for 5.2 hours of labor. If you just have the regular system it should be 4 hours of labor so if you can find a good shop at a lower labor rate you may want to go with them. Just a suggestion and that is cheaper is not always better but if you can find a good shop with a lower labor rate that should help with the total cost but make sure the shop has a good reputation.

No, not really. Even if you could hack your way to it's approximate location, there's way too much involved with no room to do anything for you to have any success. You can't just say "okay, there it is" because you can see it, and fix it

I need to know if there is an external heater control valve on the eatc unit in my 2003 grand marquis /

This vehicle does NOT use a heater control valve. Coolant flows to the heater core at all times. Temperature is regulated by the blend air door and blend door actuator. Locate the blend door. Remove the actuator and open the door by hand. If you get heat, the actuator or the control head is bad. FWIW, the actuator is the most likely cause

I have a 2003 mercury marquis--have been told that to fix blend door actuator woulld require removal of the entire dash and cost or approx $600.00 can it be done another way like diy?

Buy a repair manual and check the procedure to see if you want to attempt it yourself. If you've never pulled a dash apart, be prepared for some cursing and steaming- it aint fun! If you do it, make notes as you go along, and keep screws and everything taken off or out in an orderly way. Note where every electrical connection came apart. It CAN be done, just depending on how much you want to save 600 dollars. No special tools are required, just an ordinary set of hand tools and sockets, maybe a steering wheel puller. I've done it a few times-and found I never made enough notes to self.

Where is the blend door actuator located on 03 Hummer h2. Driver side blows cold, passenger side blows hot

They are not vac on the h2. there is 2 for temp control, one for recirc and one for blend. check the hummer forum as there is a great read for it there. the driver side actuator is really ez as it's under the glovebox, 20 min fix. the rest take removing the whole dash but it's not that tough.

2003 mercury grand marquis LS heater does notr blow hot air, blower blows but cold air comes what is the problem

The blend door is stuck in cold position. That usually happens because the blend door actuator has failed.

You will need to test and replace the blend door actuator.

To replace the actuator you will need to take apart the dash and remove completely the instrument panel,d isconnect the connector, remove the four screws, remove the temperature blend door actuator and replace it.

The replacement is not a job for beginners, since you have to take apart the dash to access the actuator.

Hot air comes out the passenger side when air condirioning is on.

The control module or actuator is most likely the cause. You can manually set it for cold air until winter. Actuator is under the dash right by the blower.
