SOURCE: 1995 Subaru Legacy Handbrake knob broken off

It appears if you remove the pin in the lower in of the handle, you can remove the spring and then re-insert a new button. Try and get this part from a junkyard before the dealership....might be a cheap part from them or maybe they want $50 for it....either way, you should be able to replace this yourself.

Hi my kia sportage 2010 transaxle handle gear knob wont go into park. The button wont push in. How do I fix or take knob off? please

Not sure on the Kia for but the Isuzu Rodeo had a problem with the electric switch actuator to unlock and lock the park brake shift mechanism if you to remove the handle usually there is either a push button a lock slide clip or a Torx or Phillips screw on the back side then lift the handle remove the plastic housing around the base you should see a plastic pin of sorts that stops IT from moving

How to release the parking brake when the parking brake release cable is broken?

Your parking brake cable is connected at one end to the release handle and the other end to the pedal ratchet mechanism. If you get your head under the dash you should be able to see where the cable used to attach and pull the lever with your hand or pair of pliers to get the pedal to release. You might have to remove a trim panel to get to it, but it is possible to do.

My saturns e-brake stoped working and wont stay up how can i fix that?

if you mean the parking brake, sounds like you have broken a cable. the cables keep tension on the handle and without that tension it won't stay up. also the broken cable would mean no parking brakes. if however the parking brakes work when you pull and hold the brake handle, then you have a broken part in the handle itself. you will need to get under it to figure out which cable is broken and replace it. the heat shielding may make this hard. I think the parking brake system is made of three separate cables, you can buy new ones at autozone, advance, ebay. stay away from dealers and used parts on this repair.

Emergency Brake does not work

You handle should pull a cable, you need to see if the cable is moving with the handle, at both ends. (At the rear by the brakes also) Remove whatever covers the handle to see what is moving, or isn't....start here!

It might just be a fuse. Check to see if your brake lights light up when you step on the brake with the key on. If not it is probably just a fuse.
