HI......
OK. just follow the number on the ignition coils.
And the number on the cylinders are.
The FIREWALL side are 1,3,5, Starting from the belts location.
The RADIATOR side are 2,4,6, Starting from the belts location.
The coil with number 1 go to cylinder 1. as the same way the rest of the coils and cylinders.

OK... I hope this solve your question .

THank you for use fixya.

SOURCE: 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe Ignition coils & EGR Valve

Well I went ahead and took a go at changing the coils, plugs and wires yesterday. It literally took maybe 15 minutes and my hands didn't even get dirty. This is something that the auto place wanted to charge me 650 to do. I spent 200 on parts. I didn't realize the coils were the things sitting on top of the spark plugs. I think my 4 year old could've done it. All I had to do was unbolt the coils detach the wires and then replace. It was too simple.

Where is the ignitor at on my Avalon? The piece looks simple and I cannot find it. The code says ingnitor 1st bank, thanks, Carl

if it has 6 coil packs then it is on the head next to firewall and #1 cylinder is the one next to timing cover and pcv valve.if it only has 3 coil packs on the front head then follow the plug wire from #1 to to coil on front head and you will have the right one but remember to look at the plug, wire, and coil boot before you replace the coil pack. the igniter is made into the coil pack.

WELL I SEE TWO DIFFERENT 2.0 ENGINES ONE IS VIN P THE OTHER IS VIN 3. BUT THE FIRING ORDER IS THE SAME 1 3 4 2 .STANDING IN FRONT OF VECHICLE LEFT TO RIGHT. 1 2 3 4. THAT THE CYLINDERS ORDER.NOW I AM LOOKING AT 2 DIFFERENT SET UP FOR PLUGS WIRES ON COIL PACK.GET A SHEET OF PAPER. WRITE THESE FOUR NUMBER DOWN.THAT WILL BE PLUG NUMBER TO THAT CYLINDER.TAKE A PIECE OF PAPER WRITE NUMBER 3 UPPER LEFT 4 BOTTOM LEFT 2 UPPER RIGHT 1 LOWER LEFT.HOLDING PIECE PAPERSTANDING IN FRONT OF ENGINE THIS IS YOUR PLUG WIRES TO COILS THEN YOU MATCH THEM TO THE CYLINDER NUMBERS.THAT WAS THE 2.0 VIN P ENGINE.NOW FOR THE VIN 3 ENGINE.TAKE ANOTHER PIECE OF PAPER WRITE NUMBERS DOWN. NUMBER 1 UPPER LEFT 4 BOTTOM LEFT 3 UPPER RIGHT 2 BOTTOM RIGHT.STANDING IN FRONT OF VECHICLE MATCH NUMBERS FROM BOTH PAPERS TO COILS THEN TO THE CYLINDERS .THIS SHOULD GET YOU BACK ON TRACK.LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE.

Is it hard to replace a coil? I'm told I need one for a 94 lumina. Is this something that I can do at home?

it's very easy. 3 wires and a bolt. 1 large wire to the centre of the coil, simply pull off by the rubber cover, the 2 smaller wires are the important ones, one goes to the negative (-) terminal and the other to the posative (+) terminal. If you pull off 1 and connect it to the new coil and then do the other wire you can't go wrong. then undo the bolt or screw that holds the coil and slide it out, replace the new coil, tighten the screw or bolt and connect the big centre wire.

HORN BLOWS WHEN I TURN MY STERRING WHEEL

I also had this problem along with a clunk sound when I turn my steering wheel. After disconnecting the battery for 30 min I proceeded to take off the 3 small covers on my steering wheel and then take off the 2 bolts that hold my airbag on. What I found was what looks to be a piece of metal the used to be attached to 3 small rubber pillars that went to a small thin piece of metal that was screwed into the steering wheel housing that had all 3 of the rubber pillars broken and big metal piece was just flopping around inside the steering wheel causing the horn to go off when I turned. No one can tell me what this part is so I just removed it and put it back together and every thing seems to be working fine now. It did not seem to have any thing to do with the Airbag as the airbag came off in 1 piece. It has been suggested to me that it was some sort of balancing weight for the steering wheel. Even the Nissan dealer could not tell me what it was. Any ways it seems fine with out it. DW

Ignition coil installation

It doesn't have a coil. It has a bank of 3 coils with direct contact to the plugs.
Remove the cover on each side which is on top of the valve covers. This will expose the coil packs.
