SOURCE: Steering wheel

This one hits home. They usually start honking the horn randomly as well. There are a ton of covers to remove under dash then you follow the steering shaft to 3 sets of bolts that bolt the shaft in to wings off the sides. Once you remove these bolts the steering column will pretty much fall on your head. Watch out for that. It hurts. There's going to be a few plugs to unplug from the harness and remove the small string that connects the shift indicator, watch out this one breaks easy. I would suggest disconnecting the negative battery cable before you start this process because you may shock yourself or accidently explode the airbag. Hope this helps, be careful and good luck! Oh by the way, let me know how this turns out for you. I'll be checking in from time to time.

SOURCE: front end and steering wheel shakes

when slowing to make right turn is it more like a clicking noise, does it do it while turning or just when slowing down. If it is while you are turning it is most likely the right cv axle drive shaft popping. When at a stop with ac on does it shake if you put it in park and how do the rpms read in park or in drive. Did they change the trans mount also dont thank that is it just trying to get a better understanding so I can better assist you.

SOURCE: steering wheel off centre on ford ka, had tracking

if wheel is offline then the person who done the tracking is responsable and take the car back to them and get them to put it right .the correct way is to adjust each track rod end a little bit not all the adjustment on one track end ,which throws out the wheel alignment .this means that you lose steering lock on one side .THIS IS COWBOY BODGE JOB .If they cant or wont put it right then take it to someone who can and report them to the office of fair trading and make a legal claim for the job to be put right

SOURCE: My ford ranger is leaking power steering fluid and

For the leaking power steering it could be a pinhole in the hose, the sound in your left wheel sounds like a bearing is going down, or, the brake caliper is malfunctioning and holding pressure against the rotor while it is turning.

SOURCE: power steering went out while driving and battery

If the water got high enough to cover the front of the engine or was shot up high enough by hitting the puddle it will cause the belt or belts to slip on the pulleys so you can loose power steering or the alt will show low amperage output and will turn on the battery light.

1990 Ford Mercury Sable airbag light won't stop flashing and gas gauge won't work how do I fix them is there fuses to check

The airbag has a fault and the airbag system is disabled (VERY BAD) The system must be checked for fault codes, but the most likely cause is the rotating contact coil under the steering has an open circuit to the steering wheel airbag. The system can severely injure you if not disarmed before the steering wheel is removed to replace the contact drum, so best left to an expert.
The gas gauge problem is almost for sure a fault in the fuel tank fuel level sensor float arm. That means you must remove the gas tank to replace the fuel pump module.

Unable to repair code C1278

This is a steering wheel angle 1 and 2 fault. You could have an alignment problem, throwing your steering wheel off center causing this code. Take it to a shop and see if I am right, Check the steering wheel to see if it stops in the center when you drive in a straight line and stop. if not the alignment is off. I hope this has been helpful.

Swerves alot while driving

Something seriously loose or worn:

- steering box mounts
- steering column universal joint or end clamp
- steering box inner ball joints
- tie rod ends
- outer ball joints
- wheel centre hub nut
- wheel stud nuts

A simple test is to jack up both front wheels and place the vehicle on axle stands. Then have someone hold the steering wheel, grab a front wheel at the 9-and-3 o'clock position, and shake it hard in and out. If you can feel slack or looseness, or the person holding the steering wheel can, you have a dangerous fault which should be fixed ASAP.

No power steering

fill it with fluid and look for the leak the system is under the most pressure when the front wheels are all the way to one side or the other..(all the way left or all the way right) if a helper can turn the wheel, you can inspect for the leak to determine where its at..if a hose is craked open, you can cut it and install a ferrule and clamps on it,,if its the pump, it needs replaced..and if the pump growls already due to low fluids it will need replaced very soon anyway..good luck it can be driven carefully but I dont sugest it..

Bleed power steering on 2008 dodge avenger

to bleed power steering, with front wheels off ground slightly with front wheels pointing straight ahead.engine off. remove power steering filler cap.add power steering until fluid level stop dropping, wait couple minutes and wait, add fluid until level stay at full cold mark on power steering cap dip stick. dont over fill.when fluid level stop dropping, start vechicle, let it idle few minutes. see if fluid level drop if so add more fluid full cold mark.then turn steering all the way to left and right with out hitting a stop.turn steering wheel several times, then turn front wheels pointing forward check power steering fluid level.if power steering fluid level stop dropping air should be out of system, if steering turning wheel dont turn smoothly and power steering fluid look light tan color air getting in the system.check all power steering lines to rack and power steering pump for sure you replaced all the power steering lines with new o rings if not you will get a leak.if you find a leak, you need to fix the leak and bleed system again.dont drive vechicle if your steering dont feel right, have vechicle towed to a garage.

Just wondering if i can tow a ford f-150 with 4 wheel drive and with the front tire off the ground or also known as a car dolly or will it damage my truck????? also wondering about my power steering pump...

1. If you disconnect the transmission , no.
2. Either your steering shaft - relatively cheap and easy to replace - or the steering box - expensive and hard to replace - are at fault. How was your luck lately?
