MY B14 HAS A HARD START IN THE MORNING WHICH MAKE ITS SMOKE BUT WHEN ITS HOT IT WORKS OK

Smoke is not a good sign on this one. This could be head gasket or crack in the engine that is getting better as it heats up and seals where you are losing compression.

Hi, my Alfa 147 select speed losers power and revs when driving up a hill, also after driving for 30 mins it starts to heat up a little.

losing power going up hill is a sign of low cylinder compression ,that and ther over heating points to the head gasket being blown , i'd suggest getting the cylinder compressions tested and the coolant checked for any sign of contamination from the engine gases etc , this will require specialist garage equipment , keep me posted if you wish

1998 dodge v10 blows blue and white smoke and teh coolant overflow tank fills when at idel

Hate to be the one to tell you and am not 100 percent sure but I believe you may have a blown head gasket. The white smoke is a sign and the overflow filling up tells me you may have compression from the engine getting into the cooling system, I would have or run a compression check. Have you been losing coolant and don't know where its been going? does the overflow seem to more like oily fluid rather than just coolant? just a couple things to look into. I hope this isn't the case but in my 25+ years experience it's a good possibilty. I hope this helps and good luck.

2006 vw passat. screen says stop! warning low oil. engine off ? what does that mean? Also servive engine now! I just bought the car yesterday and it has no owners manual. I did notice what looked like...

First, check your engine oil level , while on level ground, add if it's low. (The oil viscosity should be labeled on the oil filler cap) Blue smoke is a sign of burning oil, not a good sign. White smoke is a sign of coolant mixing with your engine oil, a worse sign.
Your computer is telling you to check your oil, so do it, or get it done.
If your oil is low, top it off and keep checking it regularly to see if your engine is consuming it. If it is, I would recommend getting it looked at for either a leak, or low compression. (Worn out piston rings will cause oil consumption and poor performance.)

I need to know how to do a compression test on a 1993 isuzu trooper

Compression test is pretty easy. You need a compression gauge and a method of turning the engine. A remote starter (cable with switch) or a helper will do this for you. Make sure you have the ignition disconnected as you do not want the engine to start nor do you really want fuel being injected. A tablespoon of engine oil is also good. Measure the compression if it is low, add the tablespoon of oil in the cylinder. If the compression is good, it is a good sign that the rings are worn.

Best of luck, Jim

Hi there my mini keeps overheating.i have changed the thermostat, radiator and still overheating. the car is not losing any water and there is no traces of water in the oil and no white smoke or water...

It could be signs of early head gasket failure. I had a subaroo do the same thing, ran great but would boil out water, then it finally blew. Had to replace the engine. It was cheaper than doing the heads. There was no signs of white smoke, no water in oil, just ran hot, some of the time. I don't know if a compression check would help, but what I would do is get it to a radiator shop, they will tell you more than anybody.

Losing oil

Check the spark plugs for signs of oil burning, have a compression or better, a leakdown test done. Possible rings were incorrectly installed. or, cylinder walls were not refinished properly.
