Question about Cars & Trucks
The car has seemed to be misfiring the past few weeks when on tick over but has run ok once it gets going. If I accelorated quickly on a motor way then there would be black/grey smoke come from the exhaust for a few seconds
Check your spark plugs and spark plug wires (HT leads).
Report back after doing this please.

SOURCE: power loss & exhaust smoke
I think its a very good idea, to replace the oil filter, fuel filter and air filter when you replace the engine oil.
I will guess that the fuel filter is in need of replacement. It's also an idea for you to check the air filter. To check the air filter, use a very strong light and hold it behind the filter....If you can see the light through the filter material you're safe, if not you need it replaced. The air filter is a very important filter for durable engine life.
If that doesn't work, we'll need to learn more about what happened as a lead up to the problem.

the intakes go bad on these engines....... they leak coolant in the cylinders and cause a hydro lock that causes the rods to bend making the piston skirt hit the crank......" clicking noise" theres a law suit in progress for this issue......... you can find info on the internet

When you got stuck in the snow did it impact hard (quick stop or small drop like a deeper ditch)? If this is the case it could be the sending unit might have been dammaged in some way. I would have the shop take a look at.
