SOURCE: Where is location of cooling fan relay?

Under the hood on the drivers side, just forward of the shock tower, you will see what is called an "under hood fuse center". On the cover you can see the various fuses and relays that are located in the fuse center.
One of those relays is the coolant fan relay. Remove the top cover of the fuse center to gain access to the relay.
Hope this answers your question, good luck.

Why does the blower fan stay on in my 2004 Volvo XC90, even when the engine is off.

If you mean the cabin fan (for heater or A/C) staying on after you turn off the car, it's a feature called "afterblow" which is meant to run the fan for a few minutes after you turn the car off to dry off the evaporator in the A/C so you don't get moldy smells in the car.

If it's the radiator fan, it's also supposed to stay on a little bit after the car has been turned off. It depends on the situation, but if it's really hot outside and you've run the A/C and then park the car, the fan will run for a bit to ensure the coolant doesn't get superheated when the water pump doesn't flow it through...

You may actually not have a problem - but if you swing by your local friendly Volvo specialist or dealer, a mechanic should be able to tell you in a few minutes if it's normal or not, what it's doing. At least if he's honest.

Otherwise it's "bring it in for a $100 diagnostic". Which means "let me listen to it for a minute and see if it's normal".

Xc90 blower fan noise

Probably worn bearing in the fan, needs to be replaced. Not a complicated job. Just locate the fan, remove a cover or two, unplug th fan and loosen the bolts. I have done it myself on a 240, 745 and v70.

Fan heater blower not working, car all steamed up and cold etc. Checked fuses but all ok, suspect relay but not sure where the location is. Maybe fan has had its days but want to rule out relay first! Can...

check the voltage at the motor connector. Easiest to start there. Could be a faulty motor (most likely part). divide in half to troubleshoot.. My money would be on the motor though.

Why does my fan keep running in my 2003 Volvo S 60 after the car is off?

It can be faulty fan relay. The relay is not turning the system off.Or its wire short issue.Even with ignition off ,the fan relay is getting power so its not letting the fan to turn off.Bypass the fan control relay and see if still the fan works with ignition off or not.

Fan on 93 volvo not working

Dont know much about volvos but check your fuse to radiator fan...if its good then it has to be either the relay for the fan or coolant temp sensor which controls when fan comes on.....You can google the location of fuse and relay....hope this helps.....On a side make sure fan is good......make sure car is off and unplug wiring harness from fan....find you a hot and ground wire.....stick it in the fan harness...(make sure you have the right wire into each) and touch to battery.....if fan comes on, its good, if not fan is bad....get another

Hi my volvo XC 90 can overheat when stuck in traffic on a hot day, as soon as the car is moving the car cools down. I believe the fan is not activating but unsure as to what exactly controls the fan. Any...

There is a coolant temperature sensor that...well....senses the temperature of the coolant. :-)

When it reaches a certain temperature, it completes the electrical circuit to a fan relay, that, in turn, kicks on the electric fan.

It could be a bad coolant temperature sensor, fan relay, fan motor, or wiring between any of the above. It may take a visit to a qualified auto technician to trace down the exact problem.

I hope this helps!

My cooling fan is not working on vnl670

Check the fuses, then the fan relays, after that the coolant temp sensors.
The fans should come on when the AC is engaged so check to see if that part is still functioning.

The cooling fan is running slow and the air conditioning is not working properly in my 2004 volvo xc90. Also the right side is not cooling. The air conditioning system gas is ok.

Have the alternator checked, and if it is fine, replace the cooling fan itself,it is bad,and if the right side does not start working ,then it is a actuator motor for that side, that is bad.
