SOURCE: I have a c200-classic 1996 Mercedes Benz. COULD

The coolant fan switch is located in your radiator assembly, usually can be seen on the bottom part with wires attach to it.
Thermostat could be seen in the engine coolant inlet, follow the upper radiator hose, going to the engine, an aluminium cap that ha two(2) bolts holding it. inside that cap where you see that thermostat valve.

Hope that solve your problem!
Thanks for using Fixya!

SOURCE: How do I top up water coolant on cl63 Mercedes

The coolant bottle is on the passenger side and black in color. Wait til cool and simply remove the cap by unscrewing it. Top off to the line on the exterior of the bottle and replace the cap. If the resevoir is empty (take a flashlight and peer in), start the engine from a cold temp. and turn the heater on high to ensure that there are no air bubbles in the system to create an issue. Fill the resevoir until you reach the level on the exterior. If it is empty you need to get it looked at and find this leak before it overheats and destroys the head gasket. Let me know if you need anything else.

There are several things you can do. The first thing is that you may just be low on coolant.
With the engine cool, remove the radiator cap and look into the radiator. you should be able to see green coolant right at the top of the radiator. If you cannot, then you should add some. If you buy coolant to add, then make sure the outside of the bottle says 50/50. There is pre mixed coolant and the kind that you mix yourself and the pre-mixed coolant is easier since you do not have to measure and mix.
Once you add coolant, then you should look on the ground to see if any is dripping. If so, then you need to have your radiator and/or hoses and/or heater core replaced.
The other problem could be that your thermostat is not opening up and letting coolant to flow to cool the engine. If that is the case than it needs to be replaced.

You don't put water anywhere

If you have a coolant system leak, you have it repaired

If your adding to the system for some reason, you add a 50/50 or 60/40 mix of coolant & distilled water

Ask your neighbor to show you where the coolant mix goes, every car is different

Battery disconnected now the engine wont rev beyond 2500rpm

Possible that the memory was reset and so the ECM is also reset. You need to check this out with the Merc dealership so as to reset the ECM without further damage.
