3.5l. How do I remove and install a starter? Step by step instructions. Please help ;)

Hi,first of all the car needs the front on axle stands,(make shore these are underneath where the jacking point is)unconnect the battery earth lead from the battery, then if you get the new starter motor that you are going to put in,you will see where the wires connect to and where the bolt holes are where it fixes to the car,
take the starter under the car with you, where the back of the engine meets the front of the gearbox you will see the starter motor, undo the cables then undo the bolts take out old starter motor and replace with new one, when you tighten up the bolts make shore thay are tight connect the wires, put battery earth back on,job done, hope this was some help all the best.

When a lamp illuminates and causes a different circuit lamp to illuminate it usually means a bad earth/ground.
Basically the lamp with the defective earth is getting it's earth connection through the other circuit and thus causing that lamp to illuminate.
Your first steps should be to check the stop light lamp holders for cleanliness and good contact and then the nearest earth/ground point for the stop lamps.

1995 3.1D Isuzu bighorn it's hard to turn over even after its warmed up. Once u get it going it runs fine. Turns over easy if you crash start. Put new battery in still hard to turn over.

if it is easy to push start but difficult from the starter motor , I would pull the starter and check it out
from memory they have a stepped starter and the idler gear in the housing can cause a problem
however a bench test by an accredited auto electrician will find the fault

I have a 1998 Rodeo a few days ago i noticed that when i brake my dash lights and park light are coming on also my heater fan works sometimes?

sounds like a short to earth in the brake light system , check that the brake lights are actually coming on as a first step , tracing this type of fault can be time consuming , as a start check the wiring connection at the rear light clusters and make sure the earth wire are sound , good connection to body etc , then i would check the earth at the brake light switch , top of brake padal , just check for continuity from earth wire to body if both of these are ok i would get a auto electrician to trace for you , will save you time , unless you would like to try your self then i would suggest getting a workshop manual , follow this link there should be one for your vehicle on this site , keep me posted if you wish

Why when i step on the brake pedel do the turn signals stop blinking ?

also gheck the earths at the tail lights and if you have one check at the trailer plug the brake lights draw more power that the flashers so they could be drawing the earth through the flasher bulbs
cheers paul

2000 excursion turn signal operates normally until you step on brake then all flash fast and weak. running board ligts also flash with turn signal. 4 way flasher lights also fast and weak.

The earth connection to the light units is poor, probably due to a corroded screw on an earth wire between the light unit and the vehicle chassis or even a corroded nut and washer, holding the light unit onto the chassis. When this happens, the bulbs being illuminated try to draw their earth connection through the other bulbs in the unit, causing them to illuminate as power is drawn through them.

Remove the nuts that hold the light unit to the chassis and use a wire brush to clean the nuts, screws and area of the chassis where they touch and reassemble. This should cure your problem. In the event that this doesn't work, find a place on the chassis nearby where you can attach a new well connected earth wire and then attach the other end to the metal body of the light unit. You MAY have to find where the earth for the light unit is currently placed and connect directly to that depending on how the particular light unit is connected and wired.

Speedometer not working. I was driving when I noticed smoked coming from the wheel. A spring cable came out. Any one can help? thanks

I beleive you possibly have a earth problem on the engine and because of which the car tends to earth through the speedo cable causing it to get very hot and often melt the casing resulting in no speedo best to check all the earth straps on engine to body work for corrosion etc. if need be try using a jump lead off any steel bolt or fixing from the engine and put the other end on the body work and see if this works for the earth solution and regards to the speedo simply check th outer state of the speedo cable casing to see if its melted? you can allso remaove cable from gearbox end and spin using a hand drill or small low speed cordless drill to see if speedo then works?regards to the spring coming out? this is difficult to determine but maybe due to the over heating? so go through the above steps as the most important issue is the smoke/overheating which may have caused further faults.
