Look at the area around the crankshaft pulley. It's bolted to the block and senses the crank position. If it fails, You won't have an ignition spark. Good Luck, Ned

Removal & Installation
4.0L Engine

  1. The CKP sensor is located on the transmission bellhousing. Disengage the sensor wiring connector and remove the sensor wiring hold-down clip from the fuel rail.
  2. Remove the sensor mounting bolt and carefully pull the sensor out of the bellhousing.
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal.

5.2L and 5.9L Engine
  1. The CKP sensor is bolted to the top of the cylinder block near the rear of the right cylinder head. Disengage the sensor wiring connector and remove the two sensor mounting bolts.
  2. Carefully pull the sensor out of the cylinder block.
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal.

well the crank shaft exciter ring could be damaged or the more likely issues the harness is cut or burnt! follow the wire harness and visual inspect for damage! were did you get the sensor? if it was auto zone i wouldn't trust it i have had bad sensor out of the box and is why i don't use there stuff! napa is the only stuff i use and never have a problem! good luck man and if you have an computer code post it and i will check it out will help me help you better!

CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR LOCATION FOR 4.0L ENGINE IS ON TRANSMISSION BELLHOUSING AT THE LEFT REAR OF THE ENGINE. FOR 5.2L ENGINE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR LOCATED ENGINE BLOCK BEHIND THE RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD.

If your stateside the CPS is on the drivers side of the bell housing at approx 11 oclock.They have 1 or 2 bolts securing them.assuming its the 4 litre motor.If its right hand drive the CPS is on the fornt seat passengers side.

On the back of the engine where the transmission mounts to the engine. drivers side towards the fire wall.

Where is the crank shaft positing sensor hookup in the wiring harness of a 94 dodge ram 360


It is hard to get to - the sensor is at the back of the engine mounted through the transmission bell housing. The connector should be within 6 to 8 inches from the sensor. The sensor reads a sensor ring on the flywheel/flexplate.

the 2.7 and 3.5 engines CKP sensor located at the right rear side of the engine cylinder block. the 5.7 engine CKP sensor located right rear side of the engine cylinder block.if vechicle have AWD you have to remove starter.

My 1999 2.4 dodge stratus wont run unless i unplug cam sensor its a new sensor and a new crank sensor


I'm having excatly same problem, found this sequence to ge the car running again..turn off ign, unplug cam position sensor, crank for 2 seconds, connect cam shaft sensor, crank again and it starts like that...

The Crankshaft Position Sensor is located: Under hood, driver side, lower engine area, mounted on side of transaxle housing
