If you mean it will not move then you may have a failed transmission. Have a transmission repair shop confirm this guess on my part. Aamco does this for free.

When put it in drive it quickly shut off but the motor run ok

If the truck runs ok in park or nuetral but when you put it in drive it stalls you will need to take transmission to be rebuilt the lock up torque convertor is stuck to much to explain to have you pull it yourself plus it would be best if you had a car hoist transmission jack

I have heat in my 2001 ford exploer when idle not when moving down road

Hello Lions.
Your Explorer has a stuck open thermostat.
When sitting there is little to no air flowing through the radiator.
As you start moving it creates airflow through the rad and cools it.
Replace the thermostat and you will have heat again.

Thank you for using FixYa.

You have described a clogged catalaytic converter in many of the same cases i have experienced. I would check that first, then move on to the transmission filter.

My nuetral switch needs adjusting where is it located exactly ?also starter seems to be getting stuck it doesn't fully turnover ,instead it will rev even when the key has been removed entirely from...

the neutral safety switch is actually in the transmission.

the starter relay should be on the p/side front fender near the battery, real easy to replace. disconnect the battery ground first.

pull the shifter out of the top of the transmission and try to move the shift rails to nuetral, if thy won't move u must have an internal broken part jamming the shift trails.
