If this cap was in fact the cause of the problem the car is designed to reset the CEL when a certain number of ignition cycles has been met without the original problem recurring. If it does not reset itself on its own then you'll need to look at the EVAP system for any leaks or bad parts. Common causes of that code are a bad EVAP solenoid, bad fiel cap seal, dry/rotted hoses, poor hose connections.
