Well your gonna need some ramps, get under neath your trusty chevy on the passenger side, and located on the transmission just befor your bellhousing on the side of your trannny are your transmission cooler lines, depending on which ever one you are removing they both in thread from the transmiossion. the other end leads up to your radiator also on tha passenger side. it unthreads from there also.... careful not to twist them off use lots of WD40 or other lube, good luck

How do I change the radiator on a 96 lincoln contiental 32v intech V8 ?


RADIATOR
Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain engine cooling system as described.
3. Remove engine air cleaner.
4. Remove upper radiator hose from water bypass tube.
5. Remove radiator overflow hose from radiator and fan shroud.
6. Remove transmission oil cooler line from oil cooler inlet fitting.
7. Remove nuts retaining A/C condenser core to the radiator.
8. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from the auxiliary electric cooling fan motors and the CCRM.
9. Raise vehicle on hoist.
10. Remove splash shield from lower radiator support and front sub-frame.
11. Remove lower radiator hose from radiator.
12. Remove oil transmission cooler line from oil cooler outlet fitting on radiator.
13. Remove retaining screws for power steering/transaxle oil cooler and position cooler aside.
14. Support fan shroud, radiator and A/C condenser core with a suitable jackstand. Remove lower radiator
support.
15. Position jackstand aside and carefully remove radiator and fan shroud.
16. Remove two retaining bolts for fan shroud at top of radiator and remove fan shroud from radiator.
17. Remove upper radiator hose from radiator.
NOTE: Loosen transmission oil cooler lines while securely holding radiator
connector with a back-up wrench.

The engine transmission with cradle need to be removed and separate the engine from transmission and cradle! Sorry

My son has a 96 ford explorer wants to know what's engine and transmission size?


the 8th vin digit is the engine size. but in 96 they only had 2 V6 is 4.0L....., V8 is 5.0L

Transmission oil is leaking on 96 5.2 v8...where


THE MOST COMMON LEAKS ARE THE TRANS FLUID PAN GASKET, THE NEXT IS THE TORQUE CONVERTER FRONT SHAFT SEAL.

If they are both 4L60Es' then yes. I know the 96 1500 does but you didn't state what size the 97 is. And are they both 4X4?

HI, It may seem obvious, but sometimes overlooked.... have you checked the oil level, as low oil can cause some strange things to happen! My 96 4 liter would be reluctant to move sometimes, but after I topped it up, it has been fine.

96 caprice classic not shifing from 2nd to 3rd


check transmission fluid level first if it is full or if it is milky looking or smell cooked change the fluid and filter because the screen in the filter maybe plugged and not allowing the fluid to go to the troque converter

Need to know how much antifreeze my 96 caprice needs when doing a coolant flush.


2 gallons will do the trick be sure to mix 50 50 water antifreeze. good luck.
