Hello, thanks so much for the tip about pulling the plug under the seat.. I know from searching for stuff that there are wires and some kind of electronics under the driver seat and there are plugs so they are going to be pulled! As for under the hood and behind the velcro panel I did check both of those spots but I didn't see anything remotely close in wording to 'seatbelts' nothing close so I didn't mess with any of them I was hoping someone might know the exact fuse since some of them are worded like 'DIM' whatever that is.. but I didn't feel comfortable pulling them incase they might be for a pump or something. Anyone know the exact fuse name on the back of the panel? the under the hood fuses are all clearly not the seatbelt ie., ac, radio, defrost.. etc..

thanks very much for fast responses.

Hey thanks guys for your help.. I don't have a manual anymore.. but I did check all fuses in the car under hood and panel near passengers left knee area.. with the velcro. Nothing had anything relatively close to saying 'seatbelt' this or that. So I didn't pull any fuses.. but I will pull the plug under the seat for sure..Thanks for that tip!

have you checked your owners manual for location of fuse panel? Under dash drivers side, under hood?

Hi Jerry,

There is a fuse panel behind the console kick panel on the passenger side. Pull the panel off (velcro stays). The legend and fuse layout is embossed on the back of the panel.

A couple other things you might try though. Underneath the front seats are sensors that normally tell the brain someone is sitting in them. Look under the seats for a plug with two wires coming out of it. Pull the plug. Any difference?

Does the the belt shuttle move at all? Is it stripped? If so, you might try helping it along to the other end of the track. It may shut down on its own that way.

And last but not least, as a temporary solution, pull the negative terminal from the battery over night until it gets fixed for real.

Let me know what you find out.
Mike

    Hello again Gerry,

This has been bugging me, I've been though Chiltons Saturn 91-98 cover to cover and not a thing on seatbelts, the shuttle motor, relays or fuses. No mention in schematics, exploded door diagrams, seat replacement. I went out and rechecked my Saturn to be sure the seat belts exist.

I appreciate the rating, but it was a little premature. I don't give up so easy and I'm going for the Fixya. Like I said, I too have a Saturn and. I'll find the answer for you tomorrow (when it lightens up a little) one way or the other. So prepare to re-rate me.

    Mike

All you should have to do is squeeze the plastic clips together, you may need a pliers. Another thing that helps is spray some WD-40 in there and rotate the filter on the line a little.

The main belt feel off my 93 saturn SC1

To put a serpentine belt back on your car, you should jack the right side up, and remove the tire first. Remove the plastic cover behind that to gain access to the side of the motor with the pulleys on it. On the side of the motor you will see down low the belt tensioner pulley witch swivels with the use of a wrench, i think it is a 14 or 15 mm wrench which is needed. Put the belt around all the other pulleys in the format they go by the picture under the hood, saving the last part of the belt to go the tensioner.Swivel the tensioner and but the belt over it, and put everything back on in reverse order.

My brake light wont come on

is this a 4 door sedan? If so, the brake light wire runs along the drivers side of vehicle up the rear side of back seat. Look at where the wire goes through the cut out in sheet metal. I had the same issue, brake light out, replaced fuse and drove, bralk lights out again. Where the wire goes over the sharp edge of metal, it can wear through and short out. You have to run your fingers along the wire to possibably find the cut, it may be small so look closely. tape it up if you find a break. Good luck

Automatic seat belt removal and replace with regular seat belts

You'd need to pickup the need parts at the junkyard. You'll need the "A" to "B" pillar trim, lower "B" pillar trim, front seat belts and seatbelt giude from a 1995 SC1 or SC2.

The treaded hole in the frame of the car where the track of the automatic seatbelt assembly attaches is in a slightly different place than the three point system. Its not a problem though. You just need to drill a 3/4" hole slightly above the existing hole in the trim panel. The existing hole is hidden by the seatbelt and not noticable at all.

Everything else pretty much bolts or snaps into place.

I've done this swap on several 1991-1994 Saturn S-Series.

The motor I believe, is located in the pillar between the doors. Remove the trim and pull the plug on the motor itself.
