1993 Saturn SC1 Seatbelt Motor Killing Car Battery

I had a Duralast Battery it was like the best one autozone sold at the time. Turns out I had an 8 year warranty so even though my battery died on me I was able to replace the battery free. Here is the problem. '93 SC1's come with the motorized seatbelt that automatically runs the seatbelt on a track so that the seatbelt comes over you automatically. The thing is that this car is old and that seatbelt system broke inside the door probably. So now everytime I open my door or shut off my car the computer in the car is telling the seatbelt to run up or down the track as if I'm getting in or out of my car. Nothing is working anymore the seatbelt fortunately got stuck in the back position so I just unhook and hook it now but the motor keeps running and running after I shut off my car the seatbelt motor goes through about 5 cycles of trying to get the seatbelt to move. After these trials it finally stops trying but the motor is being driven by the battery alone when the car is off so over time it just drains the battery. I looked for a fuse but couldn't see one under the hood or on the side panel near where the passengers left knee would be when sitting in the front seat. Anyone help me with this?

sounds logical but removing a door could turn out to be a disaster.. I think so anyway.. I mean I'd hate to not have my door panel on .. that would be not look nice. But really good idea.. the source of the problem is always the best place to resolve its problem. thanks alot!

My mom has the same problem, a clicking noise is audible from outside the care even when the car is off. Can the plug be easily pulled to the motorized seatbelts or is there a fuse that can be pulled. I'm pretty sure it is the seatbelts that is draining the battery.

The motor I believe, is located in the pillar between the doors. Remove the trim and pull the plug on the motor itself.

What replacement battery is best for this car. The old one was a Duralast.

Duralast is just a brand (Autozone sells) If you want a good one go with Interstate or Exide. 2 of the best, Duralast is also a good battery

1993 Saturn SC-1 Cooling fan never turns on.

Does the car overheat at idle? If yes, first check fuse in fusebox in engine compartment. If fuse good, check for voltage at fan connector using test light with engine on and car hot. If no voltage, replace fan relay in engine compartment fusebox. If voltage is present, replace fan. Please reply with any additional questions.

"Just need to know how to aline...". What? The best advice that I can give you is to get the Haynes repair manual on your vehicle. Anything that will need aligning should be explained in that manual. Good Luck.

1994 saturn keeps killing the battery with car

YOU CAN TAKE THE NEGATIVE SIDE OF BATTERY OFF AND STICK A TEST LIGHT BETWEEN THE TERMINAL AND THE BATTERY, IF TEST LIGHT ILLUMINATES YOU HAVE A DRAW SOMEWHERE. ONE AT A TIME START REMOVING FUSES TO SEE IF TEST LIGHT TURNS OFF. WHEN TEST LIGHT TURNS OFF, DETERMINE WHAT IS CONTROLLED BY THAT FUSE AND FIX YOUR PROBLEM

My '93 saturn sc1 seatbelt motor is running despite the seatbelt not running up or down it's track inside the door. the motor running when i shut off my car is draining my car battery. is there a fuse for...

Hi Jerry,

There is a fuse panel behind the console kick panel on the passenger side. Pull the panel off (velcro stays). The legend and fuse layout is embossed on the back of the panel.

A couple other things you might try though. Underneath the front seats are sensors that normally tell the brain someone is sitting in them. Look under the seats for a plug with two wires coming out of it. Pull the plug. Any difference?

Does the the belt shuttle move at all? Is it stripped? If so, you might try helping it along to the other end of the track. It may shut down on its own that way.

And last but not least, as a temporary solution, pull the negative terminal from the battery over night until it gets fixed for real.

Let me know what you find out.

Try pulling the engine coolant temp sensor, They often crack not sure why but the ceramic tip cracks makes the car hard to start, the car's idle may race while shifting gears, and often smokes. The sensor is on the right side of the engine when looking at it on the head. Easy to change and get too
