Question about 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse
The reverse in my 2.4 97 mits eclipse spyder went out . i took the valve body off replaceing the solinods in the transmission didnt work... is it an inner trasmission problem? could it be a ring broken interanly? where is the tcu located in the car?
It is not the TCM, it is a failed transmission.

Reverse is normally the first gear to start failing in automatic trannys

I have '97 eclipse 2.0 eng that slips in reverse and i removed the end cover with out removing the transmission of the car exposing 2 ea.gears I assume one of this gears has the reverse and overdrive plates/clutch behind it maybe the upper gear i have to pull that out to check the worn plates.

SOURCE: at traffic light and car wouldnt go forward but
You'll have to find the source of the leak to find out what went bad. It almost sound like a line going to the transmission cooler, but you could have a hole in the transmission casing. See if you can put it on a jack and figure out where it's leaking from.

I suggest you to replace the Torque converter but before to do it check the your Idle air control valve operation.
