I dont know about the Maxima but I just did the one in my 2009 Toyota Matrix and it was all of 20 minutes.
in the process i blew a fuse that is taking a while to figure out but the alternator was super easy!!

SOURCE: 2005 Nissan Maxima SE Fog light replacement

jorgeva: on the driver's side to gain access, you must remove the air cleaner assembly. At that point, you can see the back of the light which has a plastic cap. Rotate this "counter clockwise" and you can pull it back from the back of the lamp housing. From there you will see how the bulb it self is plugged in, which is obvious. Unplug it. There is a "spring "like latch retainer to hold the bulb in place. Unlatch it, remove the bulb and install the new bulb.
CAUTION!!!!!!! DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS AREA OF THE NEW BULB! Only handle the rear section. Reassemble in the reverse order.
The right side will require the removal of the windshield washer tank.
I trust this will have answered your question. If you would, let me or FIXYA know if I have solved your problem......

SOURCE: 2005 Nissan Maxima How do we change a brakelight

I believe you should pop the trunk and look where the light would be on the outside and pull the carpeting off.
well first unscrew the screws holding the carpet down then look in there.
pull out the headlight assembly and take out bulb and put new one in

You have years to change the belt. It's a good idea to change the belt at about 100,000 - 120,000 miles, whichever comes first. Hope it helps!

I have a 2000 nissan maxima and the battery and brake light keep trying to come on

Not necessarily, although most mechanics recommend OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts, especially electronic parts. Still, due to cost, some opt for a rebuilt alternator from a parts store, not oem.
An alternative is to pick up a used alternator for your Maxima from a salvage yard and install it yourself. They might only ask $100 for it, and you could save $400.

2005 Maxima, brake and battery warning lights are on. Serpentine belt looks good and the brake fluid level is ok. What else could it be?

THE ALTERNATER IS DEFECTIVE.
CHANGE THE ALTERNATER.--REMOVE THE SERPENTINE BELT BY PUSHING THE TENSIONER PULLEY WITH A CROW BAR OR BIG SCREWDRIVER. BE CAREFULL TO NOTE THE ROUTING OF THE BELT FIRST, THEN REMOVE THE ALTERNATER BOLTS. INSTALLATION IS THE REVERSE OF THE REMOVAL.
