Rev counter works for a little while then stops dont know where to start looking
The rev counter of course is electronic, most likely the tiny DC motor (called a stepper motor) that moves the counter is defective or the circuit for it is, you need to remove the instrument cluster from the dash and send it out for repair at a approved repair center. Many of these sites can be found by just a google search.

HAVE YOU TRIED DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY & RECONNECTING THE BATTERY THIS SHOULD RESET REV COUNTER.

if the light came on it could be a fluid level warning. In most models today they don't have a light or gauge for the levels. I would check this first. you mention a hesitation, this could be as simple as changing the fuel filter or a faulty O2 sensor. Best bet is ti have a diagnostic scan done to find out if there is an active code present in your ECM.please rate this.....thanks

I have heard this a LOT about the Kia Motors. To my knowledge no Motors have Blown from the Action. I do not think that it is Right eathier But, I got the same Explanation when I called for Reference on the Subject.

Try adding a bottle of Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabiliser to the gearbox, it made hell of a difference to my Kia
