Question about 1995 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

My 1995 toyota camry 2.2 shakes and cut off when start

The car runs good but when I turn it off and go back out 10 minutes later to start the car, it will start and turn off and shake. Last week I changed the idle, air control vale. I ordered a air temp sensor hoping that would fix the problem but it may be one of the hoes is leaking air. Do you have any suggestions on what i can be. The idle runs low and the car shakes.

You need to test the computer control module of the engine for fault codes, to do that go here and learn how.

Not sure what is causing it, but it sounds like you're running on 3 cyllinders. Check plugs, wires, timing . timing belt may have jumped, bad injector, low fuel pressure.

Hi,

Firstly, ensure you have the required 'mixture' of coolant/water (must have required coolant).

Second, I would recommend you re-test all the cooling system sensors again (make sure they're within specifications), in case a new one is faulty.

Third, ensure the new thermostat was of the correct temp setting (they all differ), so that it opens at the required time. Most cooling systems operate within 90 - 100degC.

Fourth, make sure the radiator (and associated hoses) aren't blocked.

If your temp gauge is reading higher than normal, but NOT in the danger zone...then this can be considered normal (especially if you've replaced with new components) and nothing to be concerned about.

However, if the temp gauge IS in the danger zone....then this suggests the coolant is not flowing through the cooling system properly.

If all above components test ok, then it's possible your water pump may not be pumping enough volume.

Cheers,

SOURCE: Toyota Camry idles then dies

It is NORMAL for the engine computer to have to "Relearn" how to idle the engine after a battery replacement. This should only be temporary and will go away after a few trips.

If it does not go away, or if the Check Engine light is coming on, it will require diagnosis to determine the cause. Nobody can tell you if the problem is related to your recent work until the cause of the problem is located.

Poor idling and stalling on deceleration can be caused by anything from a bad Idle Speed Control motor (ISC)
to low fuel pressure (Clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump) to a bad connection in the A/C clutch sensing circuit. (Kicks the idle up when the A/C compressor is running)

Put in a new starter and car won't start.

Try putting the car in the "on" or "ACC" position for 10 to 15 minutes then turn car off, then turn car on. Doing this some how resets the security on the car. I had this problem today and someone on here told me to do that and it worked.

1995 Toyota camry Le 4C Missing Problem -

i have came across simler problems in the past so im going to give you a list of four main suspects number 1; a broken or pereshed vacuum hose at the trottle body or inlet manifold.2 a blocked injector 3 a fuel injection system fault 4 a disconnected /leaking or perished crankcase ventilation hose. Before you try any of these by a can of fuel cleaner and run it through your system remember a small piece of dirt half the size of grain of salt is enough to cause this problem good luck.adrian
