Question about 2010 Mercury Milan

2011 Mercury Milan LED tail light out

I have a 2011 Mercury Milan with the rear portion of the passenger side tail light out. There are two LED strips in the tail light lense. The LEDs on the side of the tail light lense are working. The LEDs on the rear portion of the lense are not working for brake or for running lights. There is a three wire plug that goes plugs into the tail light one pin is ground, one running lights the third is brake lights. I have 12v on the running and the brake lights. There is a circuit board inside the lense. I recently saw another Milan with the same (passenger side) light out. It looks like a circuit board or LED strip problem to me. Anyone else have this type of problem?

Yes, I have a 2011 Milan as well and both sides of mine went out. One last year (2013) and the other side recently. My car is no longer under warranty and the dealer said they it would be $417 to repair. Ford needs to fix this issue because from what I have been reading it is a common problem and it is a safety issue!

SOURCE: brake lights for a 1996 Mercury Mystique

The "multifunction switch" is bad. In the old days, this was called the turn signal switch. The brake light wiring for the two non functioning lights goes through this switch. Have your mechanic check the wiring into and out of this switch. It's in the steering column.

Pull the wheel off and inspect the brake, it could have a defective caliper piston, the other issue can be a defective Antilock brake system hydraulic control valve.

Where is the fuel filter on a 2007 mercury milan. And how min are there?

This car has one inline fuel filter, it is located under the car at the right rear, if you lay in front of right rear tire (passenger side) and look under the vehicle you might see it. You need a special tool to release the line. Any auto parts store will have the tools needed.

99 mercury mystide had rear running light broken

If the driver's side tail light is working, it's not a fuse. Use a test light to check for power at the bulb holder. One terminal will be for tail light, the other for brake/turn light. If the is constant power for tail light, replace bulb. If no power, trace wiring from bulb holder to driver's side junction. Probable broken wire between the two tail lights.
