Transmission rebuild causing check engine light, how to have the ecm reset

After transmission rebuild in a 1999 toyota sienna, getting a lot of P codes. Tech bulletin TC002-03 identified resetting ecm after major engine and or transmission work for 00-04 years all models and sienna. Can the ecm be reset on a 1999 to clear all learned driving the ecm retains. This is not a code reset, this is a "reset the ecm" all memory saved information.

SOURCE: Check Engine Light Reset

I don't subcribe to this idea personally but disconnecting the battery on that truck (negative cable) will clear the codes. There is no method for this vehicle (like the old GM's) to get the code meanings or #'s without at least a hand scanner. You can pick one up fairly inexpensively

You need to reset the light with a scan tool, the same one you used to read the code in the first place.

SOURCE: code 1346 on 2002 toyota sienna

P1346 is the code for:
VVT Sensor /Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/ Performance Problem (Bank 1)
If the code came on just after the timing belt replacement more than likely the sensor was damged in some way during the work. The sensor is located in the same area the mechanic was working in while changeing the timing belt. You should have this checked right away. A faulty cam sensor can also lead to the vehicle not starting.

1999 Toyota Sienna is randomly misfiring but no code is showing

IN all causes for codes there is a constant ECM result While you have no codes, non of the codes record a direct ECM problem as such as the ECM will not record it's own fault. It has no sensors that record a fault in itself. I would be inclined to find a serviceable control unit and see if there is an improvement in your problems or see if your unit can be checked out for internal faults.

On my Toyota Sienna 2008, my check engine light, Trac Off and VSC lights are one. Why? How do I fix it?

On most Toyota's that are equipped with Cruise Control (Vehicle Speed Control or "VSC") and with Traction Control System (TCS or "Trac") all of these lights will come on at the same time if the Engine Control Module (ECM) determines that there is a fault in the engine management system that 1. Prevents the engine from being properly controlled. 2. Prevents the VSC from being properly controlled 3. Prevents the TCS from being properly controlled 4. Any combination of items 1,2, and 3.
Most of the time it is caused by a single fault in the engine management system. Fault codes are codes that are output by the ECM to let a diagnostician know which of the many systems, that are monitored by the ECM, is malfunctioning. To find out what the actual cause is, you must scan the ECM for fault codes then use this information to begin diagnosis of the system that the fault codes point to.

Lexus rx300 2002 hard shift between 1st and 2nd. Fluid and filter changed 3000mi ago, car has 93000mi

The 1999-2003 Lexus RX300 models have a common failure of the engine computer that causes the harsh shifting of the transmission. You need to get the computer (ECM - Engine Control Module) rebuilt or replaced before it causes permanent damage to the transmission. Even if the transmission is already ruined, the ECM will still need to be repaired. Most often, the transmission is fine though, and rebuilding the ECM will restore the smooth shifts that the Lexus should have. Circuit Board Medics can rebuild the ECM and reprogram it so that you only have to plug it back in when you get it back. See the link below:

When 1999 Toyota sienna xle check engine light is on?

If the light was flashing when it came on, then it means your engine is misfiring.

A solid light can mean anything from a loose/faulty gas cap to a transmission issue.

This light comes on when the computer detects a fault of some sort in its diagnostic tests. If it keeps detecting this issue, the light will remain on. If the light turns off, then it has detected that the issue may no longer be present.

In order to find out what the exact reason was for your light, You need to have your car computer scanned to retrieve the code that the computer would have stored when the light triggered. Most garages will do this free of charge. The code will tell you what may have caused the light to initially turn on.

I changed transmision fluid of toyota sienna 1998,after ten days reverse gear not working only forward gears working, what is cause,no check light on dash board.

Changing the fluid will never harm your trans unless you do not fill it back up.

Reverse is all hydrolic. There is no electrical that could cause it. If you have park and forward, you don't have a lincage problem.

As much as I feel for you, (I satarted rebuilding transmissions in the 80's) you will have to get it rebuilt.

Sorry
