SOURCE: emergency brake stuck

To fix this, you'll need a flat-head screwdriver and climb under the steering wheel/dash. Be careful that you face is not near the pedal assembly. You will see a metal cog that is holding the pedal assembly. Carefully, insert the screwdriver in to the cog assembly and carefully wiggle the blad tip. This should "trip" the assembly allowing the pedal to retract.

I replaced the brake pads on the rear of my 1999 Olds Bravada. We didn't bleed the brakes because we didn't feel that we had compromised them. Now the brakes are dragging and it seem

Replace the calipers my friend. Corrosion on the caliper pistons is holding the brakes on causing the drag. That rubber boot over the piston doesn't seal from condensation and makes surface rust/corrosion and won't allow the pistons to release all pressure.

I have a Lexus RX300 1999 model and have this recent problem. engine running normally but gear gets stuck in Parking mode and won't shift. had to depress the emergency button on the gear shift and

Hi there,

Some automatic vehicles rely on the brake switch (mounted on brake pedal) to be activated by depressing brake pedal. This signal then operates a relay and switch, to release the gear lever.

Firstly, I would check the brake pedal switch (are your brake lights working?).

If brake switch is confirmed OK, then inspect the relay (and related circuit components) of the gear release switch.

Problem geting the rear disc rotar off my 98 bravada

try hitting the "cap" portion of the rotor wit ha hammer and then make sure the emergency brake is not set. the parking or emergency brake is inside the "Hat" or "cap" and will make it rather haed to remove the rear rotor.

Hi I have a 99 Voyager and it has a spring release emergency brake. I recently pressed the brake in when I parked, and when I can back to leave my Emergency brake would not release. I need Help!

Try pushing it down with your foot again and pulling up on the release at the same time. This should release it. Also try backing up while you pull the release. Sometimes this will jar the cable to release. THe cable may need to be replaced

How do i remove the rear rotors

Realize all that is holding them on after you take off caliper slider assembly, is rust & possibly rear emergency brake shoes, inside drum inside rotor. I always engage emergency brake 1 to 2 clicks then ride around the block. That gets rid of rust & ridge on drum. Release emergency brake.Jack up truck, remove tire. Spray around center of rear hub, near studs also, with a good penetrating oil. Then remove 2 retaining bolts that hold rear caliper slider to rear spindle, & remove slider assy & caliper. Now take good sledge hammer & whack center & outside of rotor. Sometimes it takes a bunch of good hits, then they come off.

2000 olds bravada rear brakes are draging. changed brake hose's to calupers and the center hose as well. with new brake and rotors still draging not sure what to do next.

I also have this problem on my 2000 Bravada - replaced all rotors and back calipers, brand new brake pads, new system and my rear caliper STILL chewed up a brand new brake pad in one week down to the metal. Checking for an emergency brake issue at this point - if anyone has any suggestions about how to unhook the E Brake, please share!
