Auto tranmitions are located in the rear of the engine compartment usually hidden by hoses. Manual transmitions dont have a fill tube. You ahve to get under the vehicle and pull out the top plug and fill it until the fluid starts to come out of the hole. you check it by putting your finger in the hole to see how far down it is to get an idea of a little or alot. Plugs usually have a square head.

If this is an automatic trans you will fill it through the trans dipstick with a trans funnel. Or any funnel you can get in to it.

My 1999 jeep grand cherokee sometimes shifts wrong

check to see if your fluid is low or burnt. if it is low then just add enough to cover the fill mark on the dipstick. if it is burnt, remove the transmission pan and filter and replace the filter. then add new transmission fluid.

Transmission

Auto transmitions heve a fill tube in the rear of the engine compartment that are usually hidden by hoses. Manual tranmitions do not have a fill tube and have to be filled under the vehicle. There are two plugs. one will be higher than the other. You take out the top one and put your finger in the hole and see if you feel fluid. You fill it up until it starts to come out of the hole and hurry up and put the plug back in.( Be sure theat you put in the proper fluid)
