Question about 1999 Toyota RAV4
At idle ( no speed ) rpm can go to 5000 rpm. underload I can't clim rpm above 2200 rpm. If I force downshift then I can pass 2500rpm then. Driving is sliggish . Acceleration is mediocre. Checked wires and plugs ( loook good) . Running out of idea
Had the same problem on my brothers Rav4. We changed the Plug wires and the problem is corrected. He had changed the plugs a couple of months ago. We had the code read at Advance Auto, it came up P0300 Random misfire. His old wires looked fine also.

The P1399 random misfire along with one or more of these codes: P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304 -- indicates a problem with the valves. The B20 engines in the 1997-2001 CR-Vs are known to have problems with valves tightening and then 'burning'.
So the first question is when was the last time you adjusted the valves? If you don't know or never have, then have them adjusted. Soon...
