Actually yes on some cars and trucks the rear running lights are on the same fuse so you will know when your driving at night your instrument lights don't work if the rear exterior lights are out. its a fuse.

Testimonial: "I have read somewhere on here where on some models the dash and tail lights were on the same fuse, but wasn't the case with my Dodge Dakota 4x4."

The tail lights on my 1995 Dodge Dakota 4x4 was a blown fuse but did not help the dash lights. I will look for that fuse tomorrow. Hopefully it is a fuse and not a bunch of bulbs. The dash lights was a different fuse that was blown. So much easier to check fuses first then start the process of elimination...LOL

A easy way to test fuses is with a test light, Connect test light to a good ground point, If you have a blade type fuse in it at the top part of the fuse, Where you see 2 holes end silver metel showing, put the pobe of the test light into one at a time makeing shure it contacts the metel strip, If one of them does not light up the test light that is the bad fuse,,

Why did my parking lights and all dash lights quit 95 mustang

Most likely reason is that the tail light fuse blew out. The dash lights have a seperate fuse, but it is wired in series with the tail lights, so that if the tail light fuse blows, the instrument cluster lights also go out. The dash lights going out is sort of a warning to let you know to check your tail lights

Dash and interior lights do not work

Dash lights are on the same fuse as the tail lights. Dash lights not working is an indication that the tail lights are not working. The first thing to check is that the tail light fuse is not blown. Most of the time replacing the tail light fuse will restore both the tail lights and the dash/interior lights. If this is not the case you may have to trace the wires and look for a broken or unplugged wire in the harness.

Can't find fuse for tail lights. Not in cluster by steering wheel, not in cluster under hood.

the rear tail lights, license plate bulbs, and the front park lights are all fed off the same fuse. I show fuse one in the dash fuse block (15 amp). If the front amber park lights are working its not a fuse.

Are you sure the bulbs are good? Have you checked the connections in the harness?

My tail lights and dash lights are not working

American cars traditionally put their dash lights and tail lights on the same fuse so that you would notice immediately when the fuse for the tail lights failed. Find the tail light fuse in your fuse box and check it.

Not working tail lights, not working dash board

Check your fuses its probably just a blown fuse ,the tail lights and dash lights are linked through the same fuse.

95 riviera dash lights or tail lights dont work

You probably have an open/blown tail/park lamp fuse. The dash light fuse gets power from the tail/park lamp fuse, so when you can't see your dash lights, you'll get the vehicle looked at and find you have no park/tail lamps either. It's a safety feature because otherwise you may never know your running lights are not working.
Check your park/tail lamp fuse.

96 dodge ram 2500 tail lights and instrument panel lights quit working at the same time all other lights work help please!!!

Check your tail light fuse, on the dodge ram the dash lights and tail lights use the same fuse so if the tail light fuse blows your dash lights will go out to alert you of no tail lights.
