Question about Cars & Trucks
It may actually be the case that one of your rear brake lights is out and you haven't noticed it; it's a subtle difference on the 2009 328i. Compare the brake lights in the photo attached. I'd check for this before disconnecting the battery or taking it to the dealer.

You can't turn it off, you must have the dealer diagnose the system and see why the system indicates a bulb issue. The bulb out sensing is done through resistance in the circuit, when a bulb fails the it changes the lighting circuit resistance and turns the light on. it is my experience that the false indication of a bulb issue is a faulty module, a very expensive part and dealer only. Make sure you get it diagnosed before replacing any parts or just ignore the bulb or remove it.

Sometimes you can reset the engine warning light by disconnecting the battery for ten minutes or more (be sure you have your stereo unlock code if needed).
That is not a good solution, it is better to diagnose and eventually fix the problem.
Have the car computer scanned with a code reader, the codes you get in return witll tell you exactly where to find the problem.
Here is the code list.
To get the codes the code reader must be connected to the car computer.
sometimes on Bmw you may need a Interface 16 pin Adapter, depending on the code reader.
Here is a home user code reader : PocketScan™ OBD II Code Reader (AXRCP9125 ...
Here is a good scaner.
Always better having the job done at a qualified garage.

You will have to pull the dashboard display out and check to see if the bulb has blown or has been removed for some reason.
