Question about 1992 Chevrolet K1500

92 Chevy Silverado 1500 (350) throttle body question.

We just bought the above mentioned truck. It has been sitting for the last 2 years so it needs some work. The latest issue we have is that it idles fine, and it drives okay, but when we go to take off and hit the gas it stalls the engine.

We cleaned the throttle body and now it just gets very sluggish when we hit the gas but does not die. When we took the throttle body apart we noticed that the "button" on the fuel pressure reg was bent and we are wondering if that could be the problem..... We have checked the fuel pump and it seems to be fine. We have also ordered a new 2 barell fuel injected T.B.

What else could be wrong and are we on the right track here?

Yes, in fact that was one of the first things that we changed. We have ran 2 tanks of good clean gas, 1 with "Seafoam" and the last with "Lucas".

That Absolutely could be the Problem. Have you Replaced the Fuel Filter Yet?

If you are still having problems with the pickup in regards to the hesitation, take a good look at the rotor, If moisture was present at any time, the contact may have become corroded and you will only notice this when you step on the gas. Good luck!

Why does my 2006 chevy silverado 1500 5.3 ltre have an uneven idle when running and in park. no check engine light.

You need to clean the throttle body and the idle air control motor. Use brake clean and a toothbrush. Clean inside the throttle as far as you can and clean especially the back of the throttle plate and where it sits when it is shut. It's best to remove the Idle control motor and clean it with the brush. But you can start the engine and clean it some by revving it up and spraying into the throttle around the hole for the motor. It will take a second or two to start after cleaning.

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Spray carb/throttle body cleaner at all fuel and air intake areas ie; intake manifold to heads, throttle body to intake, all vacuum hoses, etc. Work the throttle to keep it running or have someone inside doing it. You will know if the carb cleaner gets sucked in somewhere. That will be the location of your vacuum leak.

03 chev silverado vortex motor v8, 6.0 my p0220 code # came up when tested. do i need to replace the throttle position sensor and i need to know where it my repair book said this one is located on...

The TPS or throttle position sensor is located on the throttle body. It is usually on the right side. There are two wires in a weather pack connector that clip to it. Disconnect the wire connector then remove the two screws ( torqs bite type). When you remove the TPS watch that you don't remove or lose the O ring that seals the throttle shaft. If you lose the O ring this will cause a vacumm leak.

With your Clarifications I suggest having the Fuel Pump Pressure Tested as one other gentleman suggested that it is most likely bleeding down overnight. Another possibility would be the Fuel Filter being clogged. The factory recommendation is to change fuel filters every 30,000 miles. Many people do not even know a Fuel Filter exists on their vehicles. Some years back they were near or in the carb. Weak Ignition would be the last thing to look into as the vehicle runs somewhat normally once started and running for a while. Modern vehicles have Electric Fuel Pumps inside the Fuel Tank. This is somewhat expensive to replace but necessary maintenance after many many miles. Good Luck!
