Do australian hilux 2.7L have a timing belt or chain

It has a timing chain

if it has a plastic cover ir is a belt
if all aluminium housing --chain

To your direct question - I am sorry, I have no information on the Hilux.

However if it is like nearly all cars with ECM, it is completely controlled by the engine computer, and apart from setting the up camshaft(s) in correct alignment with the crankshaft via the timing belt or chain, you cannot make any adjustment to it.

If you have the 3.4 V6 engine yes you have a timing belt and you shouild change it every 90 thousand miles if you have the 4 cylinder engine no you do not it is chain driven

A 1990 Nissan Pulsar has a timing chain, not a belt. Here is the picture.
