First you need to generate the Code number with a scan. Then you can go to Aboutautomobile.com and use the site and navigate to a search box for entering the Code. You use the "P" prefix and the balance is a number field. Do not enter O, a letter for the number zero.

A code would look like P0301 representing a misfire in cylinder one for instance. Some Codes will list the Brand of vehicle, like Ford, Volvo, etc. Most will represent the same things, but different Automakers may call a part by a different name.

Another site is alldatadiy.com, but it may be a pay site.

I hope my solution helps, please rate it.

PossibleSymptons

the engine may be harder to start the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate other symptoms may also be present

PossibleCauses

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Faulty spark plugs or wires Faulty coil (pack) Faulty oxygen sensor(s) Faulty fuel injector(s) Burned exhaust valve Faulty catalytic converter(s) Stuck/blocked EGR valve /

PossibleCauses

If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Dependin

SpecialNotes

Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly. A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the .box1 { overflow: hidden; position: relative; border: 1px solid #CCC; border-radius: 8px; padding:10px; background-color: #efefef; color: 000; margin-top:10px; } P1358

Notes:

Site Instructions:

  1. Please note the list of automobile manufacturers at the left edge of the screen. The currently selected ODB code is for the Volvo family of autos. The codes for any particular vehicle make and model will be found under the manufacturer family, i.e. Dodge and Plymouth are part of the Chrysler family of cars and trucks.
  2. Also notice that just to the right of the manufacturer family list is a short group of OBD II codes. The highlighted Volvo OBDII code P1358 in this list is the currently selected code, and the information on this page pertains to fault code P1358. The other codes in the list above and below this code are OBD2 codes some of which may be related to the current trouble code and can be navigated to directly.
  3. Need to look up additional OBD II Trouble Codes, use the search box. Enter the 5 character fault codes in the search box and submit the search. You can repeat the search as many times as you need, one diagnostics code per search.
  4. Don't assume a particular OBD2 code means the same for other auto manufacturers as there are many manufacturer specific codes in use.
  5. If your fault codes are for a different auto family, select that vehicle series before searching for the diagnostics codes because not all OBD2 codes used by one manufacture are used by the other manufactures. The search only looks at OBD codes valid for the currently selected manufacturer family.
  6. If your automotive family is grayed out, the current OBD code, P1358, is not among those used by the current manufacturer. You can click un-gray at the bottom of the auto family list and then select the manufacturer for your vehicle before searching for your trouble codes.

Outside of fluid and filter change... is there a list of ideas for fixing eng code p0700 o 98 cherokee. I know you said TCM. Is there anything else as I have read so many diff. "Fixes". All lights on

the code p 0700 refers to transmission control system /MIL--malfunction====causes -- wiring---TCM
that is from OBD-11 trouble codes table from the autodata fault codes book
There have been numerous debates on transmission faults where many point to the wiring being at fault ( broken, shorting or not making contact in the connections
Around the year 1998 there was a popular use of dexron ATF-2 as transmission oil but many manufacturers found from warranty claims that the particular oil was not wholly compatible with the electronic cable insulation which resulted in many fault codes being generated concerning the transmission
If you care to do some research you will find that many manufacturers state a particular oil for the automatic transmissions to eliminate this problem
I might suggest a long talk with an accredited transmission shop that specialises in your make of box as to the faults that you are experiencing and what would be a better oil to use if the current oil is just acceptable
Talk is cheap and if a new box is suggested then get more ideas and quotes from other shops
shy away from the local mechanic as you really need expert advice before you spend money.

Hi I got Honda Fit 2004, 102,222km. Just bought it. Was driving it and it started to stop and start (almost like chocking), engine light came on, and then engine stopped (cut out). Oil light and battery...

You will have to get the engine computer scanned for trouble codes and go from there. Since the light came on before it stalled out, there should be a trouble code to indicate the problem. And now that the light is staying on when running, it means the problem is still present.
Many auto parts stores will do trouble code scans for free. You can google almost any trouble code and get enough to fill a library, well almost.

Wat does the malfunction light mean is it sereous

There are currently over 600 possible "generic" OBD Diagostic Test Codes (DTCs - also known as "fault codes") and several hundred "manufacturer-specific" DTCs that are possible causes of the malfunction indicator light to come on.
Some of the possible causes are not very serious. Others can cause severe damage to your car if you continue to operate it without correcting the cause of the DTC.

In short, you must scan your onboard computer network to retrieve the DTCs that have caused the light to come on. Until this is done and you have the DYC numbers available, NOBODY can tell you if this particular problem is serious or not.

My 2001 passport check engine light was diagnoised by a local parts store as oxyge sensor, now i find out that there's more than one (1) How do i know which one to replace or do i just replace them all or...

No I can not give you the code number because I did not scan it for you. The Diagnostic Trouble Code will show ( example 02 Sensor Bank 1 sensor 2 ) for the sensor at fault, or something simaller for one of the other 02 sensors. Fore ( example 02 Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 2 ).The parts store that did the scan for you should have given you the particular fault code as well as its location. If you replace one 02 sensor, you should replace all of them. Good Luck and have a good XMASS.

An intermittant check engine light ( MIL, malfunction indicator lamp) usually means the system has noticed some trouble that has either corrected itself or has been compensated for. You can have a shop check the DTCs ( Diagnostic Trouble Codes), or for pending codes ( problems noticed but not enough to store a fault code)
