Question about Cars & Trucks
I am a girl who loves to work on cars but this one has me getting very mad. I am all the way to trying to remove the exhaust pipe, but the book tells you to remove the transaxel filler, the bolt to loosen the bracet is nearly imposs. not to mention reaching the bolts to the ex pipe.
Is this what your removing,if not let me know?http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?fromSearchPage=true&pageId=0996b43f80393801&partName=Exhaust+Manifold&partId=0996b43f80393801

SOURCE: exhaust leak
they don't go into the water jacket, but be careful not to drill any deeper than the bottom of the bolt hole or you can go through to the water jacket, a piece of rubber vacuum hose over the drill works well to limit the drill depth.

you need a very small stubby 13mm open ended wrench or a small stubby ratcheting wrench to get to the lower bolt..no need to take manifold or throttle body off. just air cleaner & tube to gain access.firt bolt, you need a swiveling 13mm socket & you can get that one..thermostat takes a rubber seal by the way...not a gasket..

there are several stud removers on the market and several broken bolt removers as well.
The best ones are the ones that have a reversed spiral inside them and tighten down on the stripped or broken bolt / stud as they are turned to remove it.
The Sears unit I use are about 1 inch tall and can be used with a wrench or socket.
Set over the bolt / stud , tap lightly as you slowly turn the tool with a small hammer to start it on the bolt, as soon as it catches switch to a wrench and remove as you would a regular bolt.
