SOURCE: heater bows cold when idling

Hya!
You need to bleed the cooling system.
To do this park on level ground, when cold remove coolant filler cap, start engine and leave to idle.
Have plenty of warm/hot water available, when engine reaches operating temp it may appear to boil over so keep away from coolant filler, top up with warm/hot water and wait as it may bubble over a few times before settling.
Replace cap and hopefully back to normal, Remember your Anti Freeze?
Good luck,

Had the same problem on my car. The system was emptyed and vacuumed and them the right amount of pressure was added with the right amouht of liquid and the problem was fixed. My car wouldn't put out heat while sitting. But while moving, it would! But now it has been fixed.

SOURCE: No heat when engine is at low rpm or idle.

same problem with my 2005 Altima V6, with only 44k miles on it!!! and this is the second winter in the last 4 years that I have to pay for a coolant flush to fix the problem. This time the thermostat is getting replaced too. Time for a new car!

SOURCE: 1995 Nissan pathfinder over heating blowing cold air.

Sounds like either your thermostat, which is the least expensive and easiest thing to change, or your water pump, or clogged radiator, which is a whole new world! The reason it wont blow hot, is because you are not getting any water to the heater core. Hope this helps.

Could not agree with you more - was thinking that it was a circulation problem with coolant when you mentioned your suspicions.

Why would my heater blow out cool air when sitting still and then hot air when going down the road and then it's not all that hot

Try flushing or blowing high pressure air through the heater core lines. its sludge build up and need to be flushed through heater core only. check antifreeze fluid level. only put in straight antifreeze, do not mix. most people do not know what mixture should be, so be safe and add straight, it will not hurt it, i run 100% straight antifreeze and never had a problem or worry about it ever freezing and cracking my block, heads or radiator cracking.

1995 ford windstar overheat after replacing the thermostat

Let your engine warm up with the rad. cap off and see if the coolant level drops. and make sure your overflow is full. It blows cold air because there is no water getting to the heater core. And it shows a normal(ish) temp because the water needs to be touching the temp. sensor. I really do think there is air in the system and there is not enough coolant but hard to tell from here. Also as with overheating any time make sure to check your oil and look for any coolant as the head gasket seldomly holds together if the motor overheats.

I had the same problem and it was the water pump, loosen the belt and check the pump for excessive play.

Sounds like you are either low on coolant, or a head gasket failure.
